This is the remains of the Scheelore tungsten mine ore processing site. In 1944 a primitive road was built to the 11,200’ level on the upper slopes it Mt. Baldwin. The mine operated until 1955. This area is now part of the John Muir wilderness. The picture was taken September 12, 2023.

Adding to previous post: the old forge in the bush. Horses used for logging and maybe transporting the copper had to be shoed.
I don't know what the rusty machine in the other photo is.
Nature is taking it back.
The entrance to an old, abandoned copper mine dug into a steep mountain side at the end of a lake. Would not want to crawl into it.
I hope bats make good use of it in the winter!

An abandoned palatial villa in Portugal, built in the early 20th Century by a successful Portuguese businessman. The most eye-catching part of the room for me was the bold stripe floor, crafted with wood imported from Brazil.
#Nature is always waiting in the wings to reclaim what we have taken. A smashed window or a collapsed roof is all it takes, a small opening for plant life to enter and take root. In my opinion, the most beautiful #abandonedplaces are those that are being Reclaimed by Nature🌿
