If you recall, I mentioned matching with an autistic girl a while back. She's still in my matches.
Our initial chat was delightful. One afternoon she disappeared, but she came back apologizing that she felt too depressed at that time. We chatted some more. It was still delightful.
And then she disappeared from the chat. It's been over two months now.
Note that we are still matched. If she did not *want* me, unmatching would be trivial to do.
Also, she did come back to the platform. I know because I pay for service and this allows me to see when people come onto the platform.
What happened?
I think she went back into a depressive episode or some other stuff happened in her life that made her unable right now to enter into a relationship with me. I think the one time she came back to the platform was to see if I had unmatched her.
I can think of other scenarios, but they all seem implausible to me. If she did not want me after all, she would have unmatched. Again, this is the easiest thing.
I don't think she uninstalled the app. If she had, our chat would say that she's "taking a break from the app."
I don't think she's dead. (Yes, my mind can go into pretty dark places.) If she were, her profile would be deleted, or it would say like above that "she's taking a break."
So I'm being patient. Note that if I were not polyamorous, none of this would have happened. I would just not have matched with her because I had a girlfriend already at the time.
I wish I could wrap her in a blanket of comfort and affection, because I think she needs it badly.
I just hope she comes back to me when she feels better.

Was at the local Christmas community lunch with my wife and mum. My mum said to me "it's so good to see you [meaning my wife and I] all lovey dovey". A bit later I asked her what she meant by "lovey dovey", and she said the way we interact and show affection towards each other, and talk to each other, in public was very refreshing and not something she sees very often.
I thought to myself "we're really just doing what we always do".
I guess after 28 years of being married we have cultivated an affection towards each other that is now very natural to us and we don't even realise we are doing it.
I suspect the fact we treat each other as equals with neither of us being a 'ruler' over the other, that we share in the household duties as well as the income earning, could also help.
