I think the people-first aspect to #Agile is reflective of a Theory Y assumption about the nature of people BUT I don’t think “people-first” is a sufficient summary of #Agile because that’s only about the assumptions about the nature of people and does not cover the distinct choices in #Agile that reflect other assumptions about the nature of software product development. #AgileDevOpsCon

Hypothesis:

If goal-setting on team level shows positive effects, these are primarily driven by such goal being a reason to interact and collaborate.

The goal itself just bears the risk of being wrong.

One of the issues I have with defining #Agile using the dictionary definition rather than as a formal term of industry is that the dictionary definition doesn’t include the “nature of software”, “nature of product development” considerations. #AgileDevOpsCon

Pondering if you can become #agile by following instructions, guides or frameworks. It seems like it shouldn't work.

"Learn how to deal with context-dependent scenarios by following explicit, context-free instructions?"
"Learn to be flexible by following this process?"

How much can you tell people how to be agile, and how much do they need to figure it out on their own?

in my 30s and still in awe everyday how everything i was lead to believe being an adult and having a real adult (corpo white collar) job is a fucking lie

accountability, responsibility, planning - none of these things really matter

agile - thats a fucking lie

you want to know how to run a project? join a catering company that only do events at locations where everything has to be brought in. every event is the same and different at the same time - where you have some core employees who know what they are doing but a lot of the actual work during the event is being done by temps

do you think you can take a client on and plan a whole event but not tell the kitchen and location where it's being held until you are already there setting up?

"well you guys had a wedding last weekend, what's the difference if we have one this weekend? i mean we are already here and unloaded? "
"what do you mean the chefs needed a menu ahead of time, just go to the store, meal service is in an hour? It's only 150ppl how hard could it be?"

want to know what Agile is -
ive had to move whole events from an outside to inside set up because of a thunderstorm in less then 15mins, want to know why it worked? because we looked at the weather and knew the possibility for a thunderstorm and fucking planned for it!

why cant you, with 4 months lead time, plan to move a database? and if once it was implemented and found out It didnt work, not have a backout plan??

fuck your user story

#Agile #Scrum un-#SAFe
Sprint velocity shouldn't be confused with a time card or itemized bill for tasks

Let's imagine it was. First off, it will be the worst, most inaccurate ever because you're making guesses about the unknowable future, not commitments. Real time cards are recorded *as it happens* for this reason.

Point estimates are self declared by individual contributors. If there are $ penalties to not reaching velocity, you merely keep your job if you hit velocity, lose your job if not

It baffles me how easy some people are to dismiss techniques and perspectives that are advocated by developers as "something for developers" and thus not for business or product management:

- #TDD
- #DDD
- #Agile
- #Scrum

These are all concepts meant to improve delivering the right product and delivering the product right. Thinking it's merely developers doing their thing outside the realm or concern of product management is so detrimental to both.

I believe that #codereview should be interactive. You can't just toss a big change set over the fence to a coworker and expect them to give you useful feedback based only on that. They should be able to ask questions, and the author should be responsible for answering them completely. #webdev #software #agile #git #programming

Hi there, dear curious being!

You can find me under the names of sowa (Polish for owl) or sowi (short version for hard-for-non-Polish sowiszcze). I avoid using my given name. I use he/his/him pronouns generally. I'm from #Poland, so I know #Polish (#polski) as my native tongue, but use #English way more often, at least on the Internet. I'm learning #Finnish (#suomi) using tools like #Duolingo.

My wife and I have been taking care of #bunny (well, plural should be here) for many years and currently, I'm a #bundad of four #rabbit(s). I can tell you quite a lot about them and show you a lot of their #photos. I love #parrots, too (and #birds in general).

I like a good #Meme or #DadJoke. If you saw sowa on #Imgur or sowiszcze on #reddit - that was me. Also, #DarkHumor is in my domain, since I'm a #Millennial hahaha.

I'm into all things #Pokémon. This includes #Nintendo #Switch #games, #PokémonGO, #PokémonMastersEX, and #collecting #TCG #cards. I foster a small local #community of PGO players, treating #Discord as the main place of operation. I like(d) attending PGO #GOFest and #SafariZone. I've also been involved in #TheSilphRoad for a few years now.

If it runs on #electricity, it's probably a #hobby of mine. Biggest of them being, in no particular order: #IoT and #SmartHome (#HomeAssistant, #ESPHome), #SelfHosting, #PCBuilding, #3DPrinting, #3DModeling. Of course, I picked an #IT related career, so I'm a #SoftwareEngineer. I play #games on #NintendoSwitch, #Playstation, and sometimes #PC. I prefer #IndieGames or relaxing ones.

I can occasionally #vent about stuff, #driving being my main source of anger. On that note, I can be considered #neurodivergent because of my #depression and #anxiety. I try and advocate for the improvement of #MentalHealth everywhere.

Other notable hobbies of mine include #refurbishing, #reusing, #upcycling, #scrum, #agile, #dotnet, #csharp, #electronics, #diy, #fixing, #fiddling, #technology, #fantasy, #NordicMythology, #music, #Szczecin, #tinnitus, #cooking, #baking, #photography

Got a weird situation going on with #SoftwareDevelopment philosophy that I'd love some input on... 🧵

Say you've got a team using (like everyone else) #Agile methodology and 2-week sprints. There are a few developers and a few QA people. Your user stories are well decomposed into smallish units, but let's face it, some things take a few days to develop.

And you don't want to be rolling story points over from sprint to sprint.
