OK, I’m done waiting. It’s been two weeks. I’m not sure if that’s long enough, but today I’m going to do a read-through of my first draft of Book 2 in my series, and will soon make a start on the rewrites.
I know some people would leave it longer, but I’m impatient and excited to get on with it. Partly that’s because I’m hoping to get the editing process done by the end of October so I can write Book 3 for NaNoWriMo. Not sure I’ll make it, but I can try.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained--the cornerstone of my life. And this applies to being an author, though the gain is more arbitrary.
I've heard many recounts of widely read authors telling of luck and being in the right place at the right time. But each of them had a vision, knowingly or not, and moved toward it.
An invented word to describe this: stratelucky. Having a strategy and putting ourselves out there, giving author success a chance to strike.

Am currently having a problem re-writing this story, in that my brain keeps going, "We've written this already!" & I have to keep reminding myself that no, I wrote [other version] which now doesn't work because [possible spoiler].
It's quite annoying in a "close but no biscuit" kind of way.

There's no feeling quite like having written yourself into a corner, not wanting to change it because you still think it's good quality, and at 10:45 at night figuring out a way through it that works and actually works well.

it's actually rather odd, but I kept hearing from podcasts and other writing advice places that in order to become a Serious Writer, you need to have routine, a schedule, treat writing like a job.
And I'm sure that works well for NT people. But for me, that was the insurmountable barrier. My writing happened in the margins of my life. And it still does (though it happens much more often, of course).

You can feel Naldela’s strain and she seems slightly unpleasant. She tries to hide her restlessness and mostly succeeds.
On the other hand, Ykril is quickly aggressive depending on the stress level. He gets hectic and likes to hit the table with his fists. However, he remains enough self-controlled that he does not strike people in this state, but only damages things.
Both have each other to calm down again. Sometimes with unusual sex positions.

Day 22: Would you ever consider collaborating on a book?
I was made to collaborate with writers on comics (I was the artist) by the publisher. On both occasions, we didn’t know each other initially and we felt we did not have much to say to each other any way… Although It was interesting to see how different people worked and planned their stories, it is NOT an experience I am keen on repeating either in comics or novels. 🙂

More or less. Every scene I write, I’ve first written a brief synopsis of what the scene is *for*… what’s it need to accomplish in the broader story?
That helps me frame the entry and exit for the scene as just enough supporting scaffolding to hold it up and tie it into the rhythm and flow of the story. Every scene is a bridge from previous to next.

More thoughts on PIXIV and AO3
Reactions to my fic is very differing between the two. My short fic does much better on PIXIV and long fic on AO3. Substantially differently. For example I have a short fic that failed to get a single hit on AO3 for over a week but was doing fine on PIXIV.) My longer fic can get hundreds of hits in the first two days and struggles to break get 2 digit results on PIXIV.

I’m having a hard time coming up with them at the moment. Like, I have a series working title, but not for the individual books, and it’s starting to bug me.
In relation to this, here's a quote from David Bowie that I've always liked:

You have to piece yourself together. Bit by bit. Part by part. Sometimes with clarity and precision. Sometimes by the light and confidence. At other times in the midnight hour. Fumbling in the dark. But you have to be assembled before the ego can be stripped away. You have to understand the structure of who you have been, before you can move beyond who you are.

Q3. I think I've had a character who's a big reader in all my books. It's my go-to hobby :)
Q4. I feel like I constantly do have to look up/research things (like care and feeding of lucky bamboos). Undoubtedly, when writing, it's faster to incorporate skills the author is already familiar with. For example, I've played tennis but not, say curling. But sometimes you just need to have your characters slide stones across ice!

In my WIP, all three central characters have side hobbies. Without the hobbies, they would be incomplete characters... One is writing a screenplay in their free time (which gives him hope). Another has a dog (she longs for a connection, to feel valued). The third takes care of plants (as a reminder of a person missing from his life)

I really hate when I'm looking through my #writing notes and see that Past Me got distracted, or ran out of thoughts, or *something* midway through a sentence and left Present Me with a half-finished line that makes me go, "What?! What were you thinking? *What* were you just about to tell me?!"
50,000 words on the WIP! Half of that is scene drafts; half is notes, scene outlines, character sketches. It’s fun to see a story take shape in unexpected ways. Very happy with the current shape of things, even if it’s slow going 👍
