Scanned some film that was mostly camera test stuff. Didn't expect anything that I was going to like as actual art. This is my sister using the yarn winder she had just gotten as a gift. I like the overall dark low key look that sets of the highlight of her hands and the blur of the yarn.

Mamiya C330, Sekor 80mm f2.8, Ilford HP5. Originally shot 6x6, but cropped to this aspect ratio.

In my opinion one of the most advanced DSLRs for the M42 bayonet, electrically operated vertical travelling metal focal-plane shutter, CdS light meter, exposure indicators in the viewfinder and a clear microprism. Beautiful careful workmanship, the equipment is some 50 years old and works perfectly. 🥷

I can't wait, for my next photo session.

Today's film review is the hard-to-spell Lomography Lomochrome Turquoise XR, that will turn your blues orange and oranges blue:

This film makes a really strong effect, almost as if you're looking at a negative (although it leaves the greens complimentary). I was a little apprehensive about trying it, but in the end, I had a lot of fun with this emulsion.

Just before leaving Athens (see previous), I saw this display in the windows of a downtown gift shop. The woman who runs it has apparently become notorious for her views. I was shocked to see this, and I wonder whether this sort of display is common in places that I don't get to.

Needing some fresh work to show at our next analog photo club meeting, and realizing that I was going to have my granddaughter (1 yo that week) in a controlled environment during a visit to Ohio, I decided on a whim to take along a pair of Nikon F cameras (made ca. 1970) that hadn't been used in 30 years. A photography of San Francisco’s Sutro Tower shot from below and framing it heroically against a bright blue sky with whisps of high cirrus clouds. The tips of some nearby trees encroach into the frame from the bottom but otherwise it’s just Sutro and sky. Sutro is framed almost perfectly symmetrically via a vertical axis drawn by its middle leg running top to bottom. The bright red and white horizontal striped paint job is bright and punchy contrast with the sky.

Both film show about 4 stops of dynamic range at most, the B&W version appears to have a tiny bit more info in the shadows.

I made a spreadsheet for easy ratio calculations when mixing the Arista C-41 kit.

The manual lists stuff in quarts, gallons, and oz., which is too much for a metric boy like me. Thankfully, the ratios all work.

All you need to do is duplicate this sheet:

...And modify column K2, where you place the total number of 35mm/36exp. rolls you'd like to develop.
