"No Animals Were Harmed" in the making of this film.
American Humane (background: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Humane ) came up with this phrase, and it's been used at the end of each film/tv show for decades.
A good thing too, and compared to letting poor horses run off cliffs, it's a great way to ensure no animals are harmed. Despite its criticism, they seem to be doing the right thing.
But, there are a set of animals that they constantly ignore. The same animals most people ignore. You guessed it, it's the animals that are already dead, or "food", on set. And once you know that the steak a person is eating, (in that white table cloth restaurant scene with the generic background music), was once part of a cow, you can't take that phrase seriously. No #vegan can anyway.

Me and my BFF don't have heaps of time to watch TV anymore. We watch a few episodes here and there and the latest show we have been (re)watching is #ModernFamily.
We love it, and since it's been so long since we first saw it, it feels like we are watching it for the first time.
One thing is different hough. All the turkeys/chickens (Christmas/Thanksgiving), all the cows (cheese, steak, milk, burgers), all the pigs (bacon), all the alpacas.
We see them now. They are there now. And even though they weren't harmed in the making of the tv show, they were harmed for the tv show. And it's a real damn shame too.

I did my undergraduate degree in 2006-2009. Let me tell you right now, #veganism or having any thought or care for any animal that wasn't a pet, or a cute wildlife documentary poster animal, was non existent in my mind.
Despite Uni being a blur, there is a moment of one class I will never forget, one where I got told the truth of something that I wasn't quite ready to accept as the reality of the world. The class was "Human Physiology", & we had a lecture with a kind, patient, thorough, funny, & informative professor, & though I didn't realise it or fully appreciated it at the time, he was #vegan too.
Homunculus man was brought up in the lecture & from there he went on a tangent with #fish:
"Did you know fish have pain receptors in their mouth as well?" ๐
"So every time they get caught by a fishing rod, they are in pain, & they are suffering." ๐ฃ
A student put their hand up to say: "A net would be better than a fishing rod then, so they won't feel any pain." ๐ธ๏ธ
The professor dead-panned:
"Why not just use a stick of dynamite?"๐งจ
The class laughed, however uneasily.
I didn't see it then, & while I had the memory with me for a long time, it would take many many years before I came to know what this professor knew all too well.
The poor fish, whether by rod, net, or explosion, didn't want to die... & while we can't control the vast oceans, we can control, ourselves. ๐ฑ
