It was exactly six years ago tonight that Star Trek Discovery premiered. The first hour was on free CBS broadcast television and the second hour streamed on CBS+ (or tried to).
It was almost impossible to watch the second hour because CBS greatly underestimated the bandwidth they would need to stream to millions of users, all at the same time. This is why they premiere the episodes in the middle of the night now - to spread out the demand.

Damascus steel ring with brass liner to celebrate our 12th anniversary.
This one was quite a challenge, since it involved some forging and etching in addition to the usual metal turning to get a nice damascus pattern on the outside of the ring. The liner is made out of an old brass pipe fitting from our house renovation, so it actually was with us for a significant part of our lives.

The results have exceeded my expectations: we now have around 80 active users (some signed up but deleted their accounts after a few days, and I had to handle a few problematic ones - otherwise we'd be more or less 90).
