If I were to use an analogy in describing this unacceptable chimera on the current state of perceived security, it is as if the post-2020 citizen has now being made orphan of an invisible abusing authority who reappears only to further raise the bar on the abuse.

I'm not trying to recover from autism. I'm trying to recover from the traumatic effects of pretending for most of my life that that functioning "normally" isn't damaging for me.
I worry it’s #anxiety

Feeling hopeful today. While I am not ready to return to my dream job at Microsoft right now, I am starting to plan what my return will look like.
This is my third leave for my #Depression and #Anxiety and, in the past, I have done two weeks at 50% and then gone back to full time. I am 0 for 2 with that plan, since here I am on another leave.
This time, my return will be more gradual and include more meaningful self-advocacy. Feels good.
Hi, fellow #anxiety people.
When you've done something (successfully) that you were anxious about beforehand, do you also feel that you need to be extra careful afterwards because you may have 'gone too far' (or had 'too much fun') and thereby acted provocatively towards your anxiety, which (I felt like writing 'who' here) may now retaliate?
I'm scared of going to certain public places. After I've done so, I feel that I better stay home for a while or only go to places that are less scary.
I know that the thought is absurd and incorrect, but it would be interesting to hear if others find themselves in similar thought patterns.
"Living in a culture that...actually shuts down people who are trying to build better things is a really isolating and destructive experience.

Even for people who are experiencing the #ClimateCrisis at a distance, through the lens of the #media, there’s a medically recognised causal pathway to #depression, #anxiety & #PTSD.”

#Anxiety sucks damn...

No matter how much it hurts, no matter how much your mind makes you believe your alone. Your not.

Overdid it yesterday. Didn't feel like it yesterday, but I'm extra low on energy today, as well as struggling with sensory stuff.
I feel frustrated by this because I have benefit forms to fill in.
I am trying to be kind to myself.
It helps that my counsellor, yesterday, said how proud she was of the progress I've made this year.

Americans are searching the phrase "I am tired" more than ever. Why?
"Lack of sleep" is a good guess—owing to #sleepapnea, #insomnia or overwork. But that's only part of the problem.
Rising levels of #stress and #anxiety and our 24/7 culture aren't just impinging on sleep time. These and a range of other factors are ruining #sleep QUALITY.
If you're often #tired or feel #exhaustion, #fatigue or #burnout, I've got a range of helpful solutions you can lean into.

any #MastoAdmin out there that can reassure me it's not as bad as it looks? I do most things by copy/pasting commands from very detailed guides.
I wonder if any therapists ever consider treating severe social anxiety disorder as some sort of post-traumatic stress disorder.
So much of the reaction to my anxiety has been to tell me it's irrational, it's unfounded, the things I worry about won't happen, people won't think of me like that; yet then when the situation occurs, more often than not, that's EXACTLY what ends up happening, my fears are proven correct & well founded. My last therapist witnessed this numerous times, including with 2 other clients of hers SHE suggested I meet with. THEY BOTH STOOD ME UP. She witnessed this! My fears were well founded! Yet when I complained, she said she didn't want to hear it anymore, they had excuses, I didn't.
I got this way through repeated bad experiences--trauma--with criticism, ignoring, & rejection. I did not imagine it. It was not just in my head.
So why does therapy treat it like it is?
I might be #childless but it's largely a choice. While I generally lack interest in having children (doesn't help that I'm very awkward around children), I also don't think I can really handle having a child due to having #anxiety / #depression and, you know, having hormonal imbalances (since i def have hirsutism).
So, like, it's probably not the best idea.
Fellow folks w/ chronic illness and/or anxiety, I'm curious, if you don't mind sharing, did you struggle w/ anger growing up - in the repressive sense, in that you weren't allowed to express it? Just had a great group talk about this w/ folks w/ chronic illness. They lovingly called me on my deep reticence to express anger, even my tendency to laugh while doing it, to buffer it. They really had my number, lol. Wondering if others do this, too.
okay… what do i get for this level up:
my #parkinsonsdisease #lewybodydementia father called me a “little bitch” while i was kneeling on the floor in front of him, changing his piss soaked diaper
is there… like… a gift card and award certificate for this new change in #eldercare #caregiving? or… do i have to wait until he starts hitting me (as he’s hit the agency #caregiver), in order to qualify for a level up prize?
Stuck in an #anxiety rut today 🙁
Jesus' fan club paid an unexpected visit to my home today. Apparently, "I'm an atheist & you're no more likely to change that about me than I am to change your beliefs" wasn't convincing enough.
They caught me in the middle of hauling my new door around to the back of my house. So I pulled out the cancer card. "I don't mean to be rude, but as you can see, I'm in the middle of work. I have cancer & I'm feeling well enough to do this today. I can't stop & chat or I won't be able to get this done. Have a nice day."
They still didn't leave, so I turned around & went back inside for some water, which I needed anyhow. Now they're gone.
If they give me the plague because they've been going door to door, then I hope their god is real & he smites them for endangering me. Even if they weren't religious, I do not appreciate unexpected guests. That used up precious spell slots I needed for the day.
Please let the drugs kick in so I can get this done.

I just submitted one of the two assignments I have outstanding from last year.
It's a critical analysis of "Women with Disability and Domestic and Family Violence: A Guide for Policy and Practice".
My lecturer has been incredibly supportive and patient.
My grade was automatically finalised because I had gotten enough marks to pass the subject without handing in the final assignment, and he helped me apply to have the grade reopened. He understands that my goal is for HDs so I can so honours (hopefully first class honours) and that I'd really like to graduate with the university medal.
Most of the time I get people telling me that I should just settle and just concentrate on passing, especially because of being a disabled student.. it's nice to have a lecturer who gets it.
I have another to submit in 3 weeks - it's an assessment of the media coverage of Kumanjayi Walker's murder.

This may be obvious to some folks, but finding some #cozy or #silly #anime to watch does help with coping with #anxiety or #depression. Like for instance Restaurant from Another World is a #cooking anime that has fantasy characters and focuses on their issues and how food helps resolve it. If you’ve written off anime as a genre I would say give it a chance. There are so many different genres. Like try Spy x Family. It’s a masterpiece of the dynamics of a found family with exciting stories but so wholesome.

Okay all -- It's early days for figuring out how to help people with
Long COVID.
That said, a bit of promising research is starting to surface.
I'm taking the unusual step of emailing EVERYONE because at this point
many of you with anxiety and depression symptoms may have some Long
COVID (brain fog, sleep issues, the depression or anxiety itself!).
A good write-up about what Long COVID is can be found here. Yes, you
can had a trivial case of COVID-19 and still get Long COVID symptoms for
days, weeks, months, or years. Some cases of it are somewhat "mild":
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/long-term-effects/index.html
*The bottom-line of the video is right at the end. For long COVID:
-- Get outside one hour per day.
-- May cover up if sensitive to sun (near UV rays will get through
clothing anyway)
-- Best if in nature (surrounded by green)
-- Do not look directly at sun (duh)
-- May wear a hat (near UV rays will get through clothing anyway)
-- Sitting in a sunny window no longer good enough (most glass now has
to be certified to block the rays we want)
He also promises to talk about how intermittent fasting may help in a
future video.

I read about the virtual tour here: https://www.railwaygazette.com/virtual-train-tour-to-help-passengers-ahead-of-travel/64870.article
But it took me a while to find it on Lumo’s website (which detracts from the accessibility slightly!)
For some reason it’s under the ‘Who We Are’ menu at the top of the site, rather than under the prominently displayed ‘Assisted travel’ section (where I expected to see it): https://www.lumo.co.uk/help/assisted-travel
The ‘Assisted travel’ section – with its mysterious icon 🤷🏻♀️ – contains a couple of PDF leaflets
• The one under ‘Making rail accessible’ is really geared to the commonly considered (but still under-served) groups: people who use wheelchairs and other mobility aids, people who use assistance dogs, and people who need to travel with a companion
• The other one, developed by the same company that created the 3D tour, is an ‘Autism Guide’, and is not much more than a list of the East Coast Main Line’s tunnels and their lengths! 🫠

Many Autistic and other disabled people like/need to have lots of information when visiting somewhere for the first time
I always check Street View* before going anywhere I haven’t been – and if there are interior photographs, so much the better
So it’s really nice to read about a train operator, Newcastle-based Lumo, offering online 3D tours of their trains: https://www.lumo.co.uk/who-we-are/virtual-tour 💜
Not sure what happened to the end coach though! 😳

The first day in months that I've taken my ritalin so I can work on uni stuff, and I feel SO anxious.
I don't think it's the ritalin making me feel anxious, I think it's anxiety about "what if the ritalin doesn't work and I can't finish my degree?!" which is definitely grounded in "you don't deserve good things" thinking...

3/4 I occasionally fall into my old habit of Anxiety and Depression, nowhere nearly as much as I used to, plus just to top it all off I have a bit of Arthritis at the base of my spine which flares up now and again.
My morning routine always includes taking my various medications, seven tablets every morning covering my health issues and I have appointments with the Nephrologist and have blood tests every 6 months or so.
My therapist told me about it (the one who taught me that executive dysfunction was a thing and that I'm not 'just really fucking lazy'), and everyone else I've talked to who have used it has great results.

How does your #anxiety manifest? Mine feels like my skin is too tight and I just want to crawl out of it 😔
I haven’t had to take anxiety meds in months but have twice this week. Feels like I’m backsliding quickly.
In a call with a PM I mentor, I realised a big reason I'm so much less anxious now than a few years ago: being realistic with myself about priorities.
Set aside those low-priority things on the to-do list that haunt you as they spill over from week to week. There's no need to feel guilty for dropping things from your way-too-full plate because you've been focusing on what's important.
#productmanagement #product #productmanager #priorities #anxiety
As I write my next book about my experience of having worked 17 years in retail and the PTSD effects from it, I'm shocked to see the number of people online who describe the exact same weekly nightmare I have that I open the book with.
It tells me this is a more wide spread concern.
