Fun fact: you're required to submit screenshots from a 5.5-inch device in order to publish an #AppStore app for #iPhone. However, there are no longer any 5.5-inch iPhones that support iOS 17.0, so by default, if your #xcode is up to date, you *can't* create a simulator with the right size. The only way to get these screenshots is to follow a non-obvious menu path in xcode to download an older version of iOS, which is 5+ GB.

This is the second time the App Store review team rejected my app on grounds of standard #macOS behavior. First time they got confused about an Intents app extension doing Intents app extension things, now it’s the app extension not showing up on the relevant System Settings privacy permissions page (which, AFAICT, is to be expected as it's not an `.app` but an `.appex`).
I'll run some more experiments tomorrow on the latter issue, but it's angry bed time first.

After a week the developer responded
“…the ads are necessary to maintain the game in the free mode”.
Deliberately ignoring the problem.
Of course the only response from Apple is deafening silence.
Is it common for the #AppStore review to complain about app extensions spawning processes? My app contains an intents app extension, and as soon as you look at one of its Shortcuts actions in the Shortcuts editor, naturally its appex is launched by macOS. Weirdly, that was the first issue they had with the app. I'm confused.
I *still* think there needs to be an OS-level way to see which of the #apps I have installed are #PWAs and which were installed from an #app #store like #Fdroid #PlayStore #MicrosoftStore or the #AAPL #AppStore.
#NativeApps are different from #ProgressiveWebApps and #foss apps are different from the #adware that corpo app stores peddle.
I need to manage these different kinds of apps differently.

The developer has a history of defrauding users over 5 years through in-app purchases - which Apple has done nothing to mitigate.
App reviews complain about being harassed by ads, the game crashing, and in-app purchases not being fulfilled.
Mind boggling why Apple would allow this app on the App Store at all, even without the fraud.
Apple is promoting a scam game “Tank Stars” on the App Store.
You can make an in-app purchase to remove ads, but the ads are not removed.
Worse still, Apple won’t refund the purchase.

It wasn’t my splashiest update cycle but I was ready on day one, I made my apps better, I resisted adding trendy capabilities that didn’t truly fit, and I did it while taking care of myself and working at an intentionally slower pace for maybe the first time ever.
I’m glad others are getting the attention and buzz they deserve, and I’m also very happy to be on the sidelines for all of it. Happy launch day, friends.
🚀 Version 1.2.2 released on the #AppStore with support for #ios17, #watchos10 and #macos14.
New interactive widgets have been added to all platforms. Also, a corner widget to the Apple Watch.
