Ugh! #Windows12 & #CorePC seem to have the wrong focus.
I'd like to see #Win12 support #RISCV #ARM #AppleSilicon and #X8664 out of the box. It should be the perfect OS to share software between a #VR Headset, #RaspberryPi project, or any other computing device.
Stop with the bloat, and get simple and elegant, and fast.
It also needs to have more options for heterogeneous CPU architectures, various clocks, cache, etc.. expect complex chipset variants and scheduling.

@garritfra I think so too. Nowadays x86 is a quasi legacy platform in the data center, where real business is. Arm is the cool platform for the next future and could really do without licensing issues. But I am a Risc V fanboi so I could be biased here.

This is what happens when you have one company that holds the IP treasure and controls who gets to use it. RISC-V is still a little ways off and there can still be pitfalls when it comes to ISA extensions and various companies's takes of RISC-V, but competition is very much needed.

Important note, this planned business model change is for core design licenses, not the architecture licenses that allow key chip designers to make Arm-compatible core designs eg Apple, Samsung, Qualcomm etc.
Short term there are no viable alternatives to

in smartphones, longer term this proposed business model change will increase r&d efforts by Arm customers to find good enough alternatives eg open source Risc-V
This not only alters the value chain but will increase price pressure at a difficult time for the industry with slowing shipments & a difficult economy.

I'm updating my testing methods a bit and as a result I'm going to be re-testing all of my ARM boards & mini PCs. I have however run into a small problem that I'm hoping someone can help me with.
I don't have a Raspberry Pi 4B. I was able to access someone else's for testing previously but that's not an option anymore.
So here's the big ask ... does anyone have a Pi 4B they're willing to trade in exchange for a mini PC? I've got spares.

I tried a switch to #FreeBSD #ARM for that Raspberry Pi https://wiki.freebsd.org/arm/Raspberry%20Pi to be able to load out the #zfs pool's content to another USB stick that I can continue using. That worked very well until the point of of running "zpool import" (ie. the second step after booting:) which just froze and seemed to have killed everything.
Back to #ArchLinux then, fortunately found that I had a 5.x kernel still in the pacman package cache, so it was indeed a kernel downgrade & we're back in business.

Sadly, it looks like no one was able to solve the issues around creating a Node.js binary for Musl on arm64, so it looks like Kitten¹ won’t be available on @postmarketOS on mobile phones, etc., in the foreseeable future (unless someone with the necessary knowledge and time can step up right away before this commit is reverted).

Professionally right now I work as an SME in a #PenTesting group for a regulatory company, but it's really not my bag of tea in the long run. That I can feel. I much prefer to be in an investigatory and tool-making field for something related to #DFIR . I was especially happy doing #ReverseEngineering of #malware .
I'm into reverse engineering, assembly languages like #IA32 and recently #ARM / #ARM64, programming (old classics like C/C++ / #Python but learning the newer stuff like #RustLang ), big into #forensics, #RasPi and #Arduino projects and such.
Still trying to figure out what I am career wise, though, like job title and such! It's all great fun to me, just haven't found the direct niche to sink into.
Hobby wise, I'm also really into #GuildWars2! Long time gamer at heart.
Wonder if anyone has any ideas why the new Alpine Linux musl/ARM64 Node.js build is failing and/or can help fix it.

Before you can install the third-party WiFi/Bluetooth driver on #Fedora #Silverblue on the #PinebookPro, you have to remove two #rpm repositories that come preinstalled that don’t have #ARM (aarch64) support and thus make the rpm-ostree install command fail.
You can’t do this using rpm-ostree (you’d win the game too quickly, where’s the fun in that, amirite?) so you have to edit the _copr_phracek_PyCharm.repo and rpmfusion-nonfree-steam.repo files to set enalbed = 0 in /etc/yum.repos.d/

TIL you can force a platform in a Dockerfile via e.g.:
