There are many high school students who say, “I will take university entrance exams for the time being.”

In Japan, many students try to enter universities at the age of 18, and for some reason I (or rather, my parents) do the same without thinking too much about it.

In the future, it would be good to enter after finding out what you want to learn as you get older.
I tell my son that too.

I'm autistic & adhd: Just a reminder, if I'm switching thoughts and ideas rapidly and its giving you whiplash. (This isnt a flippant joke. I really am.)

I mean its giving me whiplash too but I'm kinda used to it after 3 decades. Kinda...🙃

I struggle to stay on the same thought for more than a minute, and the thought can come back anywhere within hours to years.

I think it's almost impossible in Japan to change a school from the inside.
School supremacy will change if we do not create an organization outside the school, centered not on the school but on the board of education, etc.
And under the board there should be options of usual schools, free schools, alternative schools, and home schools.

The school counselors at the elementary and junior high schools when my sons stopped going to school, all talked about "how to get my sons back to school," and my wife and I were heavily blamed. .

In October 2019, the Japanese government announced a new "how to support school refusal".

Restricted interests: sitting on trees, only interested in repeating the same birdsongs.
Stimming = flying (sometimes problems with anger management if not allowed to fly. Restraining the wings is sometimes the only way to prefent from moving the wings)

Asking #allistic about #autism is like asking fishes about #Birdism: being scared about breathing under water. Ducks are highfunctioning-birds and hummingbirds low-functioning.

Because they judge "functioning" by the ability to accept having the head under water. The longer, the more functioning.

Showing fear of drowing is a symptom, that can be reduced by exposing the bird to water again and again. The best way to (dis)solve the problem, is to "teach" the bird to be under water.

I'll also plug that both our #cargobikes are electric, and e-cargobikes can be helpful for some disabled people. I, for example, get sore and tired easily due to Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and I find driving sensorily overwhelming due to speed because of Autism and ADHD. Electric cargobikes go slower, can carry all the things I need, and help me move even if I'm too tired/sore to walk or pedal an analog bike. They are barrier removers, and mobility devices. #Autism #ADHD #AuDHD #YEGBike

The removalists packed almost everything today, including my meds because telling them not to pack a specific box and putting a giant neon pink sticky note on it wasn't enough.

They're all in a box inside a truck inside a locked security area in another suburb.

I at least have some insulin because that's kept in the fridge. But my 3 anti-hypertensives, 2 diabetic meds, fibromyalgia meds, pain relief, adhd meds and migraine meds are all packed in a box.

'I asked people one question: Who are you?

Almost unilaterally, non-autistic people began describing themselves in terms of their relationships to others– if they were a parent, a spouse, what their career was, where they lived, what their religion is, and what their roles were related to others (sister to a Senator, military brat, pastor’s wife, soccer mom, etc.).

And, almost unilaterally, #Autistic people described themselves as what they loved to do, what their values were, and what they had experienced. Many even said this, having intuited the basis of the theory. Among the answers were, “I am a verb,” or “I am what I love,” or “Who I am is what I do.” Autistics would answer, “Lover of Justice,” or “Dreamer,” or “One who values autonomy.” Some would describe themselves as a “lover of” or “obsessed with” an intense passion, like trains, lichen and fungi, or theoretical physics and black holes.'

I'm so incredibly stressed with moving that I can't even explain it. And friends keep explaining to me "yeah, moving is stressful but you'll be ok."

What if I'm not? Like I'm agoraphobic and I literally have people in my house touching all my things and the safe space I'd usually retreat to to help with that doesn't exist because it's packed in boxes. And it feeling safe on the other end of the move is months and maybe years away because it's not going to be MY safe space for a long time, it's just going to be "the new house".

Please stop telling me that I'll be ok when I very much might not be.
