Bank to #bank #money transfers in the US are so broken. I had to send a bunch of money to my real estate agent. She asks “Do you use #zelle? #venmo?” No. Fuck that. I do not need anybody’s #privacy policy involved in transferring money. I could “send a wire” but that costs $25 in the year 2023. That’s also fucked up.
In the UK you just put in bank routing details and poof! Money moves instantly, securely, and free? Why? Because the fucking law says so. That’s why.
So I wrote them a check. In 2023 I wrote a check. Then I emailed them photos of the check. They used their bank’s mobile app to fucking take photos of the pictures of the check I sent. And it worked! Free. Electronic. With no third parties.

It seems pretty disturbing if you have to re-install your banking app and while configuring the app it says that the used device is unknown to the bank and I have to contact the hotline to get the device unlocked.
This is especially unsatisfying if your 2FA is the app you can't install. Therefore you can't log into your bank account on your laptop and or PC. The hotline though is available Monday through Saturday from 08:00 - 20:00.

So what's the most user-friendly #banking #app for couples/families in #germany ?
I'm reasonably satisfied with #N26's app, but my spouse is at another #bank, so their 'shared spaces' doesn't really make sense to me. Anyway, I like having a separate bank account for the family, because I don't want to manage transactions after the fact.

I delayed moving away from #gmail for #protonmail because I thought it would be a huge pain. In reality, it took about 1 day to switch my core accounts, and then another two weeks for the less critical stuff. Trying to break my habit of using #chrome, but having less success there. I've been a customer to my #cooperative #bank for like ever and I think that cooperatives are inherently better than (public) corporations because they're legally forced to care about sustainability and the interests of their member-owners, and not be beholden to the ideas of a few big hedgefunds.
I was curious how the #bank stocks will look during this earnings season. The recovery has been quite remarkable, and US gov did a remarkable job here.
Nothing stays in place forever, but it's safe to say this round was handled very well.
From all the bank stocks in my tracker, 57 reported earnings so far, 2 hit NEW highs, 13 ended up on "top gainers" list vs 7 "top losers". 91% of bank stocks are now above 20 day moving average price (short term uptrend).
This was unimaginable in March.
I recently reported to the #privacy officer of my #bank how the #email address that I created exclusively to deal with this bank had started receiving #phising messages, thus suggesting a #dataLeak on their part.
They have actually responded with a reasonable amount of detail.
Although they assure me that they have not suffered a data leak, they accept the fact that it is possible some of their 3rd party services may have even though nothing has been reported to them.
To be honest, I was not expecting an answer at all, much less a legitimate one as in this case.

1. Not from their main domain.
2. Asks me to follow a link, also not their main domain, and enter lots of personal information to complete a "finances health check".
3. Includes "security advice" that emails from my bank will never link to pages that ask for personal information.
4. Says is is authentic because it contains my post code (which only my bank would know?)
And people wonder why everyone keeps getting #scammed ...
