Revealing the Fifth Beatle!
In an unreal, stunning revelation, music history is being rewritten with the discovery of a fifth member of the iconic rock band, The Beatles. Known for decades only as "The Shadow Beatle," this enigmatic figure has been hiding in plain sight, contributing significantly to the band's success and subsequently shaping the music landscape of the 70s and 80s under a pseudonym.

According to The Theory of Everything Else: A Voyage Into the World of the Weird by Dan Schreiber—yes, the lengths we go to find things that may be of some moderate interest—when the remaining Beatles were producing “Free As a Bird”:

Good artists copy, great artists steal – and generative AI does the marketing for both
The attacks on generative AI started out claiming that it was all about protecting the creators whose works were being “stolen” in some mysterious way by virtue of software analysing them. In some cases, that high-minded stance has already degenerated into yet another scheme to pay collecting societies even more for doing next to nothing. But beyond all this …

It's very fucking wild that 40+ years have passed since John Lennon's death, that with the current technology in Audio, allows the #Beatles to have one last song together despite #Lennon and #Harrison passing.
Sixty years ago today — 29 November 1963 — the Beatles released their new single, “I Want to Hold Your Hand.”
Even though the record had advance sales of more than a million copies, it did NOT immediately enter the UK charts as #1. That’s because another song stood in its way . . . something called “She Loves You” (you might have heard of it), which was already #1 and stayed there another two weeks. Then, finally, “I Want to Hold Your Hand” got its chance to top the charts.

People’s creativity never ceases to amaze me. This guy creates an upbeat version of the Beatles ‘Now & Then’ as the #Beatles could have played it in 1964, plays all the instruments, has some Sgt Pepper figures showing up and has an Ed Sullivan persiflage as an introduction. The work that goes into that 3 minute clip…..

Not sure how I feel about this one.
His death was a tragedy. A terrible moment felt around the world.
Is this documentary exploitive? A fresh look from people who were there when he was killed?
Take a look. The movie drops December 6th. 🍿

Really suprised to hear that people hate the new #Beatles record the way they do. It’s wild. Even the video and documentary was cute. It’s the one time I don’t absolutely despise something tied to that brand. Weird.
I thought it was going to be like the D’Angelo drop but for the 60s hippies. Guess not.
Just Fake It - by Stephen Macaulay
The story, it seems, is this.
There is a broadcaster (although that term may not be entirely encompassing, as there is a streaming service involved, so that’s not precisely “broadcasting,” although as the channel has some 167 million subscribers in the U.S., that certainly is broad) who talks about sports.
Charissa Thompson works as a co-host for both Fox Sp...

#NowPlaying - phil ochs' topical #folk #songwriting demos for broadside, 1962-1964, released in 1980. along with the usual anti-racism & pro-unionism, oddities include a commercial for proto-cable ("talkin' pay tv") & a song for christine keeler (spotted canoodling with b. kreutzmann on the dead's europe '72 tour), but once again most charmed by the space race ballad, "spaceman." less into the winking cover of the #beatles' "i should have known better" with (recent deadcast guest) eric andersen.
Listening to the #Beatles in #spatial audio on #Apple music, the new 2023 masters. I think we've hit the point where it's too clear, and at least for me, that's starting to reveal the flaws in the music. For example, the lead clearly sings "I'll never dance with another", but the others doing the Harmoney are clearly singing "I wouldn't dance with another". If it wasn't for spatial audio on #Sonos I wouldn't hear that at all.
If you're a Beatles fan, or if you have an interest in the history of popular music, or if you just like a good non-fiction read, then check out this terrific article from Salon. Here's a short excerpt...
In February 1988, Leena Kutti, a 43-year-old Estonian immigrant, accepted an assignment to work at G.P. Putnam’s Sons, the vaunted New York City publishing house. The job at Putnam’s brought her to the New York Life Building — and, more specifically, to the basement.
Known as the “storage room” in the parlance of the publisher’s staff, the dusty basement level was packed to the gills with every possible kind of detritus. It was mostly clerical stuff — paperwork and contracts associated with a century in the life of American publishing. But there were strange things, too, hidden among the attendant accumulation — objets d’art such as paintings, sculpture, photographs. And Kutti’s job, more or less, was to throw it all out.
It was around the second day on the job when Kutti happened upon four boxes. Almost immediately, she could tell that they held contents of a particular significance.
As she sifted through the boxes, she gazed at what seemed like vintage photographs of the Beatles — thousands of them. And then she found a manuscript titled "Living the Beatles’ Legend: Or 200 Miles to Go." It was an oddly formatted specimen — printed in all caps.
And further still, she discovered a spate of leather-bound diaries. Leafing through their pages, Kutti was able to ascertain that the boxes must be the property of Malcolm Evans, a name that meant nothing to her. From the looks of the booty that lay before her in the basement, he must have been some kind of chronic hoarder, an avid photographer apparently, and an enthusiastic journaler who peppered his voluminous diary entries with madcap, colorful — even psychedelic — illustrations.
To an avid fan of the Beatles, the name Mal Evans is instantly recognizable. He played an important role with the band; on the periphery, to be sure, but Mal was intimately involved with John, Paul, George, and Ringo for many years.
So I'm excited about reading a new book that's about to be published: "LIVING THE BEATLES LEGEND: The Untold Story of Mal Evans."
60 years ago marked a major turning point in western culture with the release of #WiththeBeatles on November 22, 1963, and the onset of #Beatlemania in the UK., an explosion of joy still reverberating today. With the Beatles climaxed (so to speak) with a cover of Money, by Bradford & Gordy. (btw, @NothingIsReal is a master-class on how to do a #Beatles podcast).
titling this 1966 album by the pete best combo "best of the #beatles" is still pretty hilarious & amazing & somebody should totally license it on red vinyl for a future record store day. (not that i've actually heard it.) https://beatles.fandom.com/wiki/Best_of_the_Beatles
I Saw Her Standing There (2023 Mix)
The original is a 2 track recording with the backing on the left track and the Paul's vocals on the right (so they could balance them correctly for the mono release).
Now the handclaps, vocals drums and bass are in the middle with the lead guitar on the left and rhythm on the right.
I think they've been using Peter Jackson's magic machine again.
The Beatles—This week I picked up a gently used copy of The Beatles (The Original Studio Recordings) box set for a reasonable price. It was released on 09/09/09. To honour the occassion, I made an animated GIF of their first-rate album artwork. My favourite Beatles song is While My Guitar Gently Weeps, written by George, and featured on their self-titled "White" album.
She died without learning a secret: She'd played with the Beatles
Late musician’s family learns she’s on new Fab Four song. ‘I’m very proud,’ says mom
I enjoyed this. A trip down memory lane and a beautiful tribute to a great band that was.
The song is quite good imho, but the short "making of" documentary is even better in some ways.
The making of Now and Then:
‘It will change the way we think about their story’: mythical archive of ‘first #Beatles historian’ comes to light - https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/nov/07/it-will-change-the-way-we-think-about-their-story-mythical-archive-of-first-beatles-historian-comes-to-light fascinating stuff
Thought new #RollingStones & #Beatles material in 2023 was surprising? The new #AllenGinsberg album "Fall of America II" beats them all out of... er... the park where they hit balls around. Fantastic stuff. As relevant, if not more so, than it ever was. #music #beat #poetry https://allenginsberg.bandcamp.com/album/allen-ginsbergs-the-fall-of-america-volume-ii
#Stimmungsmache
the video in all its artificial style is distracting from a little bit boring melody. A bit of nostalgia can be expected. As I remember the tape was given to Paul by Yoko lots of decades in the past after John's death. It reminds me on the fragments of unreleased songs like the Antology project . Similiar like the group ABBA did publish s.th. in the nineties. I guess it is rather published as a testimonial or obituary than as a real #beatles song.
Nineteen years from now, if I’m still alive and if the Internet is still functioning (both probably doubtful), I will be able to sing —
🎶 It was 20 years ago today 🎶
🎶 When I came to Mastodon to stay 🎶
And now that I’ve made my obligatory #Beatles reference, I’ll simply report that this day, 5 November 2023, marks my first anniversary as a Tooter.
So bake me a cake! Let’s have a party!! 🥳 🎂 🎉
Hey, y'know. What with all this "last #Beatles song ever" stuff currently circulating around the interwebs, I'm reminded of a piece I once wrote about the reasons the Beatles broke up. I'm pretty proud of it. What?? You haven't read it yet? Well, I can help you out.

Thanks to technology, the final new #Beatles track is due out this week, having started out with an in-progress song Lennon recorded to a cassette tape. Nice behind the scenes look at how it came to be. #Music
((I'll comment in German for once. Please use DeepL.com, as I do with your texts).
The Lucy hominid was named after the 1967 Beatles song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds". Apparently, the song was played loudly and repeatedly in the expedition camp all evening after the team's first day of work on the excavation site.
The Lucy spacecraft carries a disc made of lab-grown diamonds for its L'TES instrument.
So, let's listen to the Beatles sing "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" as Lucy flies by asteroid 'you are wonderful' Dinkinesh 🎶
