It was quite foggy this morning, but that didn't stop me finding the brood of 9 #ducklings at work this morning.
The parents were carefully standing guard and herding them all around as needed.
Definitely worth having dirty knees and elbows for the rest of the day.

Portrait of one of my regular Pied Currawong visitors.
This is the older one, and has learnt to call for sultanas in the morning, even said "thankyou" once.

A mostly black bird with an intense yellow eye, white tail-feather tips, white rump and white wing culverts. The beak is also black of a substantial relative size, with a small hook at the end of it.

It is perched on a vertical stick, body facing right, head turned to the left.

Leaving work this evening, I found another family of ducklings. Nine in this brood and they were motoring along at quite a pace heading for the new wetlands where the main lake used to be at UQ.

Too fast to get some nice duckling portraits, so these are all "run and gun" as they whizzed past.

This image is a detail from my watercolor painting Portrait of a Bald Eagle, which I painted in portrait format. I cropped it to a modern square format. It shows the head and torso of a bald eagle sitting and looking to the left. While the background and the plumage of the bird of prey are depicted in an abstracted way with loose expressive brushstrokes, the head is painted in a more detailed and realistic way. The white feathers of the head and the strong yellow-orange beak stand out clearly against the background in various shades of blue from turquoise to indigo and the dark brown feathers of the body and are emphasised by this colour contrast and light-dark contrast.
The portrait in portrait format is also available in my shop. Choose for yourself which format fits best in your rooms.

The Summer Gold Chicken (Sommergoldhähnchen) has been spotted! That's the German name for the Common Firecrest, one of the smallest birds in Europe as far as I know.

They're always quite difficult to spot, not only because of their size but also because they're very jumpy and like hiding inside trees.

Yellow-rumped Warbler at Water Spout by Debra Martz While hiking a few trails at Goose Island State Park in south Texas, I crossed a paved road and noticed a few picnic tables...good time for a break. But the best part was when I neared those tables, I realized there was a watering station for birds and small wildlife. Shortly after sitting down, in flew this Yellow-rumped Warbler.
