🌄 Yesterday afternoon, we had a slight cloud break after endless rain. I got a bee in my bonnet and headed out along Germany’s “Southern Wine Route,” to capture some of the autumn vineyards before it’s too late. After the highpoint vistas, I headed into a low area. Suddenly I got an inspiration to turn left, up a small windy road. Magic awaited me.

Der Grat zwischen angenehmer Frische und schneidender Kälte ist schmal, finde ich. Gestern Abend an der Küste war es jedenfalls richtig kalt. Zum ersten Mal in diesem Herbst. Acht Grad und Starkwind. There’s a melancholy to the evening #BlueHour as autumn draws in. It’s very mild and quite windy. The local duck is vocal and there’s the odd hoot from an owl. There’s a feel of mellow fruitfulness, even though blackberry season is over and harvests are long brought in. Holly and other berry trees are heavy with fruit.

The blue hour last night. I stepped outside before dinner to grab a few frames, just as the town lights began to turn golden against the fjord.

This scene reminded me of many years ago when I caught up with a friend in this same village. So I sent him a copy of the photo and a quick hello. Turns out he's been feeling very blue himself.
