"Walk With Me" is a 21st century interpretation of the traditional spiritual that Black musical artist #EdwardBoatner arranged for #MarianAnderson in the 1920s. There are uncountable recordings of the song, and it appears in many Christian hymnals today.
There are three Lady Blackbird performances of "Walk With Me" on the LP.
This week's #SundaySong is one of the very few that I can sing while playing bass – which I did at two open mics this week just for fun. But when it came time to record, I tracked vocals and bass separately, so I could optimize them separately. Then I added a little B3 drone, because. This is Fleetwood Mac's version of a Little Willie John song, "Need Your Love So Bad."

The wife and I went to a new venue last night (The Refinery) to watch the fabulous opening act, North Mississippi Allstars. (Taj Mahal and Los Lobos played later.)
We were able to make front row for the NMA performance, and those three each had turns solo singing and playing lead guitar... amazing. Then we met two of them after the show, and they were very kind to speak to some fans.

This is the incomparable Sister Rosetta Tharpe, performing at a disused and rain-drenched station in Manchester. It was made for a 1964 Granada TV special called Blues And Gospel Train.
Basically, every British guitarist from the mid-60s to the end of the 70s was inspired by this. Its impact was immeasurable.
And it is an absolute, unqualified joy. I urge you all to give it eight minutes of your day.

I really don’t recall where I first heard this, or which song, but I do recall being struck by their cool, laid back, yet funky sound. So many good tunes. I can’t think of any track I don’t like.
It’s a really unique mix of rock, blues, hip hop, and soul featuring a distinctive vocal style.

Malvina Reynolds was a gem of a human. A big activist, born to two activists, and a great musician to boot. Her most famous song, “Little Boxes” is fantastic. If you don’t know it by name, you’ve most likely heard it.
