Went to Times Square to get a couple tostadas, brought them to my community gardens, 48th/ betw 9/10th. Then on the way home, the park & playground practically next door was having a party w a chili competition sponsored by the 45/ 46th Street Block Associations so I signed up for that mailing list, too.

I had a chance to pick up a used Holton H602 single French horn for a really good price. A lot of wear and tear, but the levers are fine and none of the tuning slides were stuck. Plays pretty well. It should be fun to learn. The trombone is my primary instrument, so it’s hard to get used to the French horn mouthpiece. 😂

Went to 4 #GarageSales today. Burned $10 in gas. One sale was not there. One had only useless shite. At another I got $20 worth of window winterizing supplies for a buck.
The last sale was quite useless, w/everything priced at least 3x too high. But I have a trick: look for the one item sellers think is garbage.
Scored a small #trunk with rat-proof #brass exterior for $2. Perfect for #apocalypse #prepper food storage. The "garbage" flaw: 3 trickling corrosion marks where a dog peed on it.

I’ve been going back and forth between a Denis Wick 7CS and a 5BS mouthpiece on the King 3BF trombone (.508 bore). Basically trying both out to see which one gives me the sound I want. I play a Denis Wick 5AL on my Getzen .547 bore horns, but the 7CS seems to really work for me on the King. It’s been fun playing it the last few days!

Plastic narrow shank #tuba mouthpieces for sale in the UK? Smaller sized is better. It's to replace a trombone #mouthpiece because my lips demand extra room. This is for a #serpent and the tuba mouthpiece I'm using plays great but is too heavy for the lead pipe which is just held in place by a bit of cork.

@CharmingDolphins I've experimented with this a lot. It seems to me it's not so much about the library (as long as it sounds like horns!) as what you do with it. Plenty of automation and avoiding perfect quantizing.
I'm always going for a Jerry Hey sound, hard, compressed – here's an example where I use tp/tb from EastWest EWHO, mixed with, of all things, a 400kb horn section *soundfont* from God knows when.

A few years ago I discovered the r/flashlight community on #Reddit and my life got a little brighter.
There's a whole industry of custom low volume #flashlight makers just outside the public eye.
My two favorites are pictured here: the #Emisar D4V2 and #Lumintop Tool AAA in #brass.
Both arrived shiny and bright but within a few months had an awesome #steampunk patina that looks like an ancient artifact.
