UK: ‘It was amazing to find sisters': #BrixtonBlackWomensGroup on their revolutionary newsletter http://www.europe-solidaire.org/spip.php?article68425
To mark the 50th anniversary of the group’s formation, the writings of the #BBWG have been brought together for the first time and published as a book. Speak Out! is made up of writing from the group’s newsletter. It contained everything from reports on the work the group were doing and political explainers to reviews of plays, films and novels.
Here's the link to the radio show I hosted a few days ago at Asse Zeta, an amazing independent radio based in Brixton.
The episode is called Dub Jab and I played some dub related tracks I love.
Proper Late Stage Capitalism this, instead of investing money in our aging water network the Companies the government sold our infrastructure to sent the money to the Blessed Shareholders instead, and us peasants can suck on the brown water flowing down our streets.
Yayy Capitalism! So much choice and opportunity!
Never change, exploit us until Civilisation dies!
Imagine being such a Oligarch simp that you blame this air pollution on Low Traffic Neighbourhoods.
I wonder what delightful new toxins are entering our bloodstreams through the lungs, if we just ignore it it'll go away, right?
Thought I could smell burning while outside at the weekend.
If I learned about it via Twitter, I would have had to wade through conspiracy theories about Low Traffic Neighbourhoods to find out what was happening.
#Police watchdog apologises to sister of black man who died in custody in 2008
Deborah Coles, the director of the #DeathsInCustody charity #Inquest, “Fifteen years on and with no one properly held to account, this case provides a stark reminder of how the mechanisms for holding police to account are not fit for purpose.”

Lambethans rejoice, at least for now. Really happy to share the video of the single from an EP I've been working on last year, which is now finally seeing the light, thanks to the Z-Axis label.
Thanks again to @tristanmcguire for coming up with this really nice piece of work!
Just what anyone in #Brixton needs right now is a bunch of architects and their idea of "community spaces" #London
The band from #Brixton have released one (amazing) song and the global music/culture media/SM reaction was instant, voluminous and not all positive. Britain + the US have special contempt for unearned glory.
The song is women-powered epic brilliance!
In a few weeks I'm releasing a new EP I completed in 2022, with a small label based in Brixton, Z-Axis.
And in preparation for that... Here's a collection of old tracks released in 2022 (cover based on a work by @tristanmcguire)
The Great Insurrection: Remembering the #Brixton Uprising
On this day in 1981, Brixton’s black community rose up against police discrimination and mass unemployment, a watershed moment in the fight against racist oppression.

finally: who else would have the audacity to chastise MTV - at the height of the channel’s popularity - for neglecting to afford as much airtime to non-white artists as to white artists? he really was a monumental human, this self-professed ‘born librarian with a sex drive’.

Today I had the privilege to (online) meet Marcia Rigg. A black UK woman who now fights for more than 14 years for justice for her brother Sean. Who died in 2008 in police custody, because of #racism and major failings by the #Brixton #police.
And remember. As you can see this is not only an American issue, but also happens in the UK and other Western countries. Let's never forget those victims of #PoliceViolence and other forms of #PoliceBrutality!
