A very small hamlet in the Highlands, next door to Spean Bridge, Highbridge is the site of the first action of the Jacobite rising of 1745, the Highbridge Skirmish.
This old post-mediaeval lime-mortar rubble/stone-built cottage with a corrugated tin roof is believed to have been an inn in General Wade's time.

They were popular in Germany in 60s and then they disappeared.
I would like to know why.
Just from a pure #building #physics point of view, I could imagine the following negative points:
- More area of "flat roof" or balcony on top of living rooms (weather and rain could easily cause problems, leaving the rooms underneath at risk and creating higher maintenance costs to keep everything dry).
- more exterior surfaces lead to more heating+cooling costs and create more expensive construction.
- They often use a lot of #concrete which has some general negative sides (high #CO2 emissions; it's inherently porous and can therefore absorb water, which can lead to moisture problems. These include structural deterioration through cracking or crumbling, corrosion of steel reinforcement and possible mold growth. All of this can affect building integrity, energy efficiency and health conditions...).

Gray, darker gray, even darker gray, anthracite… I think this is a worrying and growing trend in the use of #color in #architecture. New #buildings , #building extensions, paintwork, facades, shop windows, even new public benches and other street furniture is often in one shade of grey, at least here in the Netherlands (the photo was taken near me). But as I recently found out on holiday in Scotland: also there. Is this a global trend? Let’s not forget about #colour ! #architecturephotography
Loving this block of flats in Darmstadt, Germany. Not just for the sloping roof garden, but the whole approach with onion domes and the painted lines and individually designed windows that create a sense of irregularity.
It's called Waldspirale ("forest spiral") and was designed by an Austrian artist, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, who had a strong dislike for straight lines.

Simply change /usr/local/ to /usr/X11R6/ [] from bin/makefile-init-freebsd.x86_64 worked fine.
This was necessary for maiko makeright to build ldeinit, which is a requirement for medley/scripts/loadup-all.sh
