"Nach dem Wintereinbruch in Hessen müssen Fahrgäste mit Problemen bei Bussen und Bahnen rechnen. Der Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) und der Nordhessische Verkehrsverbund (NVV) teilten mit, es könne witterungsbedingt auch am Dienstag zu Beeinträchtigungen kommen. „Es ist mit Verspätungen und Ausfällen zu rechnen“, erklärte der RMV."

Auch ein Aspekt der #Verkehrswende: Das Kind steht freiwillig früher auf, um einen früheren #Bus zur #Schule zu nehmen. Der Bus, der eigentlich reichen würde, ist so brechend voll, dass nicht alle #Schüler*innen reinpassen. Zudem neigen die Schulbusse dazu, zu spät an den Schulen anzukommen, weil sie im #Berufsverkehr im ganz normalen Stau stehen.
Lösungsansätze wären: mehr Busse, Bahnen und Gleise und Busspuren. Aber nein, wir leben unseren #Autofetisch auf dem Rücken unserer #Kinder aus.

Das Gespenst #Seilbahn geistert ja auch immer wieder als Alternative zur #Tram oder #Bus durch den Blätterwald. In #Zürich ist diesem Unsinn jetzt eine Absage erteilt worden: nicht schneller als ein Bus, Kostendeckung von gerade mal 33%. Durch weniger Haltestellen wird auch die parallel fahrende Buslinie nicht überflüssig. Sinnvoll sind Seilbahnen in topografisch schwierigem Gelände.

My family thinks I'm nuts when I insist on taking the bus when I visit them in Memphis.
Yes, the Memphis transit system is criminally underfunded and sucks, but I recommend it to any tourist for the following reasons:
* Culture: There's no better way to immerse yourself in Memphis culture than to use the bus system for a few days.
* Education: If you don't quite grasp the concept of institutional racism, you definitely will after riding the Memphis transit system for a few days.
* Entertainment: I guarantee you will laugh out loud (along with the rest of the bus) at least once. One time, when the bus engine kept stalling out at a stop light, one woman yelled "Raggedy ass bus!" and got the entire bus roaring with laughter to relieve the stress. Another time, the driver received radio communication from the depot that was overheard by the entire bus: "Drivers, be on alert for a woman on Airport Way dancing in nothin' but her underwear and a big afro." All of the passengers burst into laughter.
* Humanity: One steamy hot day on a bus with insufficient air conditioning, an elderly man looked faint. Someone asked the driver to stop the bus in front of a fast food restaurant while another rider went inside to get a cup of ice water for the man. Everyone on the bus waited patiently while the man drank the water and signaled he was OK before the bus resumed its route.

And a #Europa-wide one, of course, on the large scale.
And, on the small scale, it should be integrating #MobilityAsAService #MaaS tools, that include not only #trains and #bus, but also #bike self-service rentals and their car equivalent #carsharing (not to be confused with #carpooling services, which can also be included btw)

It's been quite stormy here for the last day or so, and apparently three cows decided to take the bus home last night rather than walk in the rain. 😁
Apparently, they had escaped in the bad weather, but the owner got them all home safe.

Mother & child, both newcomers to the city, didn't know to push the rear door open to get off a #bus... (They're Chinese like me. In East Asia, the exiting doors are opened by the driver. And yes, I did help them out.) I'm wondering if those driver-activated customer-operated doors have any real benefit over having the driver open the exit doors? It appears to increase the time needed to deboard, which seems too much over the supposed benefit of discouraging some fare evasion... #PublicTransport
@kupfers every time #foot passengers use the #boat, they are effectively reminded that motorists are more important than them, that they must wait for the motorists, that they are a nuisance that the #ferry company must hire buses for. Eventually most take the hint and either use a #car, or at least get a #bus ticket. Foot passage seems to be provided under sufferance.
One of the great things about #Acadia is a free bus system that can take you all over the park. I overheard car brains complaining that the parking lots were full. 🤷🏻
