Working on making a simple site, and Neocities is great. It's free, and the only issues I'm having are because I'm too stubborn to actually look up how CSS works before it breaks horribly. Though it's hard to not get sidetracked because there are *buttons*. If I can't have my button hoodie , at the very least I need a button page.

I built a few controllers this week... These are being sent to a doctor who works with patients that suffer from cognitive issues and use a program running on a tablet.
What distinguishes #buttons from spoons is that spoons can be rationed and conserved. They're actual energy reserves.
Buttons are more like fae. They're fleeting and capricious. If you don't press that button within the limited-time window of opportunity, it will just vanish. And you don't know when the next one will deign to show up.
Why is #ADHD-Alien's #buttons metaphor for executive dysfunction so apt?
Have you ever looked at a gas range or a box fan and wondered why it goes Off, High, Medium, Low?
Because the energy required to go from off to on is tremendous. And that's task initiation/task switching for people like us.
We are Newton's first law of motion personified. A body at rest will remain at rest until acted upon by an outside force. And boy do we rely on that outside force.

During the #GreatDepression, when my great grandmother was raising a family, nothing was wasted.
Among the things I cherish most is this #collection of her #buttons. Before there was #fastfashion we made things to last, patched them where they wore thin, and saved the #reusable parts when the garment could no longer be saved.
Many of these buttons are 100+ years old and still have bits of #fabric and #string attached. Some are #bone, #metal, or #shell.

I think a lot of the complaints about Mastodon are being blamed on "#buttons" but are really actual, real, genuine problems with #DISPLAY
For instance, pasting an URL in a toot doesn't look like what one got with the (IMO pernicious) QT button on BirdSite. But, the thing is, I think it also does not resemble what you would see on BirdSite if you pasted an URL. (I am NOT going back to BirdSite to check.)
And, in any case, the complaint concerns display. The display displeases and is bad.
