This tweet from John Ivison is a great example of Canadian Media's naïveté refusing to believe that, like Americans with Trump, Poillievre ripping reporters is exactly what a large number of Canadians want to see. Especially the *imagery* of a strong, well dressed man-figure, flanked by two subordinates behind him alongside two Canadian flags, speaking forcefully back to questioning.
Doug Ford creates exactly the same scenes for himself. He's been Premier of Canada's most populous province for 5 years.
Yes, believe it or not, 30-35% of people in Canada really want --whether through unintentional conditioning or not -- to see that and it's more than enough in our voting system to lead to majority power. In order to stop Poillievre's rise, other party leaders need to either present a much more compelling vision and advertise it relentlessly or Poillievre has to do something historically bad to take himself out of the race.
As it stands now, he will be our next Prime Minister and no amount of tutting or navel gazing by media personalities will change that. It may accelerate it.

I must preface this with: As long as we have airplanes, all people should be able to fly on an airplane comfortably and safely, period. However, my point is: this also reminds me that if Canada (and North America in general) had a working high speed rail network, it is a mode of transportation that is far more conducive to accessibility and assistive devices.
I recognize trains can't go everywhere planes go (they used to!) and disabled people have the absolute right to expect the same speed and convenience of anyone else (thus this story!). But part of the problem for *everyone* is we simply have no options.
We've thrown all our transportation-eggs into the airplane and cars basket and the air corporations are showing to be particularly evil. The stories emerging from Air Canada and others are horrendous. The companies should be absolutely ashamed.
