But I never spotted its name in the battle. I had to look it up on StrategyWiki. I must be old - Death is supposed to be a black robe and a scythe, to my mind. The second form of this one, the one on the ground, looked like it could have been airbrushed across the side of a roadie van in the 1980s.
Still a fun battle. 8/10, would defeat again.

I'm still enjoying #Castlevania: Circle of the Moon a lot. It's a quick game that can be tackled in small chunks when I have 15 or 20 minutes free, and it's challenging without being punishing, which is about the level of difficulty I'm up for at the moment.

Continuing my playthrough of #Castlevania: Circle of the Moon. I've now beaten the Iron Golem - not a very difficult battle. But after that, it took me a little while to figure out where to go next to make any progress. I finally found the Endless Corridor and have made it up to Adramelech.
This is a much harder boss than the three that preceded it. For each of them, I died one time only and was able to beat them on the second try. I've now died three times to Adramelech.

They come in the same packaging as the IBM PC 5 1/4” and 3 1/2” floppy disk versions.

Going further into #Castlevania: Nocturne, I'm definitely starting to see some good writing and some of the characters are growing on me. But to be blunt, aside from the fight sequences the animation is stiff as a board, the screen-actor-voice-acting is out of place, and "main character" Belmont is annoying and one-dimensional. Castlevania Nocturne is good. REALLY good. This one is set in the time of the French Revolution and features Richter Belmont and a badass group of vampire and demon killers he fights alongside. Violent and sad but always with a sense of hope and justice. Just saw it's already been renewed for part 2, too. Oh, and obviously not for kids! Haha
