I may not be cheerful right now, but by god, my food will be!

Made confetti couscous tonight to go with grilled salmon. Yummy.

My recipe:

Instant couscous: 1-1.5 cups, prepare as directed.

Raw veg chopped into small bits: carrot, red bell pepper, zucchini, spring onion -- white and green parts.

(You decide the amounts. This time, I used 1 med. carrot, 1 med. zucchini, 1 sm. spring onion, 1 sm. red bell pepper.)

A handful or two directly from the freezer: small frozen green peas

Complementary stuff: raisins, dried cranberries, chopped almonds, to taste

Dressing: juice of one orange, equal amount of olive oil, salt and pepper. Add some lemon juice if too sweet. Use as much as needed, to taste, or to have the couscous reasonably moist (agreeable to the tongue, basically. Your tongueage may vary)

In my experience, even people who usually rebel against raisins in non-desserts end up liking them in this.

Hey, I got you some daisies!
This is one of my favorite flower photos I've ever created, contributing now for #JanuaryJoy. At my latitude, we are still in 15+ hours of darkness each day, and the cloudy sky of western WA means most of the actual daylight hours are quite dim and grey. A moderate closeup of a lollipop plant, so called because the flowering bracts stand upright on the plant and are bright yellow, gently tapering cylinders, like a child’s partially sucked lollipop. The “lollipops” themselves each sport several white flowers at differing heights and directions, so the overall effect is somewhat whimsical, as though each lollipop has grown little white angel’s wings. The yellow and white field of lollipops is quite dense, and contrasts against the strong green foliage of the plant. You can’t help but smile on seeing it.

I have audited Reasons To Be #Cheerful (Part 3) and found that
1. I am in need of coaching. Of the 58 reasons, I have barely tried half.
2. Happily, only 5% are incorrect, even forty years later.
3. Ian Dury and The Blockheads are awfully nice people. I miss them.

I have no idea if Dmitri and Pasquale are blokes he met at the pub or the classical composer and the opera. I've counted them as two separate people. I see it is the source of some biblical interpretation and probably depends on your denominational allegiances
