Here’s a technique I’ve occasionally used to make palettes more varied and colors feel more natural. Originally it involved drawing each shape twice at half opacity, assigning a randomized color from the palette each time.

Can we have more modulo patterns?
Think of modulo operations as a of a clock. When a specific value is exceeded it will restart from the beginning, just like a watch hand running infinitely in a circle moving from 12 o' clock over to 1 and so on. Just with the modulo operator you have full control over speed, range and the starting/returning value.
