Spent the last few hours dealing with the jump flood fill algorithm at work until I realized it is actually the heart of an artwork by @toxi on fx/hash, namely De/FragV2 🤩

And here, after a proper 24 hours dagaussing, is XboxAhoy's recreation of Jack Haeger's "Four-Byte Burger" on my Amiga 1000 w/ 1080 display, properly rotated.

XboxAhoy's recreation of Jack Haeger's lovely "Four-Byte Burger," referenced in my earlier toot, displayed in phosphor glory on my Amiga 1000 and its 1080 CRT. (XboxAhoy linked the IFF in the post to his sub - r/XboxAhoy - on reddit).

Obviously that old 1080 doesn't like to lie on its side! Eek!

So very lovely!

My recent toot about the iconic lost Amiga work of pixelart from 1985, Jack Haeger's "Four-Byte Burger," received by far more reactions than any of my others.

YouTuber "Ahoy" has just posted a video in which he sleuths rather deeply and manages to recreate this wonderful piece, pixel by pixel, with apparently great accuracy.

It's an incredible process not to be missed!

Accidental science art: witness the pixel value difference between two different non-linear transformations of the same image, one where the image used for computing the deformation field with a thin-plate spline was filtered with a Gaussian and another with a bandpass filter – two different approaches to mitigate an invariant grid pattern that would foul the image registration.

Mostly black and white image with curvy, slender motifs reminiscent of ink on water. Like a Rorschach test, each of us sees different shapes, forms, and things. Strangely calming.

Flourish is the notebook of an algorithmic architect.

These are a few of my favorite generations over the last hour or so. Open them up full screen and check out all the details 👀

This project is finally ready, and I'm excited to release it. Stay tuned 🫡

Watched Seinfeld last night when in episode "The Gymnast" Kramer brings up this awesome almost forgotten #computerart "magic eye" picture (stereogram). What a reminiscence of the #90s, I remember having a book with dozens of such pictures as a kid 😍 would love to see these getting a revival!

found a good fullscreen picture of the image on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/seinfeld/comments/q3wbfr/well_you_blur_your_eyes_like_youre_starin/
