The benefit of using multiple browsers is that #cookies cannot cross browsers: making the pesky #trackers be browser bound and making browser fingerprinting harder to achieve. This will give oneself an edge on personal data protection.
Some browsers have the option to use containers, though it can feel like the overview is quickly lost and potentially it could be a bigger strain on the device.

Why are we still using cookies to store state about for example authentication and session?
I mean, as a user I go through hoops to securely authenticate myself, tokens here and there, hardware fingerprint readers... only to have all of this, reduced to a text file, stored in the clear, in my browser.

I’m attempting to make chocolate chip cookies but using olive oil instead of butter. (Butter is delicious but I need to lower my triglycerides and supposedly olive oil is good for that and butter is bad for that.) The dough does look a bit glossy. I’ll chill it overnight and bake in the morning.

So, then my head goes: "Surely we can build something into the browser that can store my 'nope' response *locally* so when I visit that site again, the browser can just pass that info to the site?"

I made flourless peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. I probably had enough flour for traditional peanut butter cookies, but this recipe seemed easier. They're similar to the 4 ingredient peanut butter cookies I made a couple weeks ago. These had more ingredients and I think they tasted slightly better. After all these years, the Cookie monster isn't looking too bad.
Soooo, I sent a #VulnReport to a company, where, via a #CSRF GET request (so trivial to implement), I had complete control to add or overwrite #cookies set on the root domain for their clients.
They don't think this is an issue.
I am not a pentester, so given complete control over a cookie, what would you do?
So I gave them a couple of examples.
- Overwriting or setting session cookies (#SessionFixation / #CookieHijack).
- Setting a cookie >8Kb or so to trigger 413 responses.
I haven't poked at their customer list yet, but will be recommending that we NOT be a customer any longer.
My interpretation of this article is that hospitals, clinics, insurance companies, etc. need to get links and repost icons for Facebook, Twitter, etc. OFF their websites. If you work for a big institution -- talk to your marketing team as they are used to doing this routinely. If you are a small provider, look at your website -- especially if you created it years ago back when no one thought of the problems and you just wanted some traffic.

This is Zoom's privacy policy. It is an amazing piece of legal engineering granting them the rights to buy, sell, and gather just about any data about business users they want -- including listing you in a Business or Professional Profile (the "directory"):

If you use Zoom at work through a business account and don't wish to be listed, consider opting out. They are also collecting information from around the Web outside of Zoom apparently to help build out your profile.

User #tracking is so prevalent that we often have clients in the EU ask us to provide a list of #cookies served by #NodeBB on behalf of third-parties.
Sometimes they don't understand that there's nothing to send over.
"Please send us a list of third-party cookies"
"There is no need to send a list, we only serve one single session cookie"

Wait! What??!! What is happening right now??!! It melted (see post from last night) into MonoCookie when I "softened" the butter (plant-based butter). So I put the dough in the fridge overnight and just made a batch, I had to break off chunks it was so cold.

Another night of baking and Star Trek, and it happened again: the recipe said "softened butter" (we used vegan butter but still) so I went and softened the butter, and it was A LIE! 😂

Had more energy tonight so I made some cookies! These are the Cardamom Oatmeal Cookies from Moosewood Restaurant Low Fat Favorites. We didn't have apple butter so I used Trader Joe's Pumpkin Butter and awww maah gaaawd they are GOOOD. Then I wrapped up two foil pouches and ran them over to the neighbors (one of whom I forgot is out of town so I ran hers to the NEW neighbors, pushing past my shyness, and they were extremely happy, so YAY!)
