My #lupine cover crop kinda failed, but I have a bag of chicken poop, so I'll be good. I just need a way to keep topsoil/mulch/water from running off: my soil is notably taller from adding shit to it in the #corn patch. I'm wondering about that icky plastic edging.
I plant in the hellstrip, so there's a lot of edge. Do I start a blog to record progress? It would 100% have #alamtg stuff too...
For the record, corn is a pita.
With a lot of my Summer plants dying back at this time of year - tomatoes, zucchini, pumpkin, - it's nice to have one crop looking its best right now. There will be popcorn!

Last nights #dinner journey. We made #vegan #tacos el pastor. The filling is shredded king #mushroom and shredded #baked #tofu that marinated in Trader Joe’s truffle #BBQ #sauce. We also made some charred #corn and sautéed black beans, an some pico de gallo.
I built my tacos with vegan cheese shreds at the bottom, filling, corn and beans, and topped with the pico.
So freaking #yummy

Depending on where in #Mexico you are, and who you are with "esquites" can be a little different.. but the base ingridient is #corn kernels, best if white savoury (but doable with yellow sweet) boiled, grilled or roasted with onion and some species. After cooked one can add lime, chilli powder, mayo.. or if you are wrong about things sour cream and salty cheese 😜

Let's have some more #corn updates! It's not just corn, of course - my "three sisters" patch is literally in full bloom now. As well as the first ears of corn appearing, I have flowers on the beanstalks and my first pumpkin flower too!
Due to the corn maturing at incredibly different rates, I've been out there hand-pollinating the corn each morning. I have three stalks with various sized ears now, all starting to grow nicely.
Small #corn update, everything is growing well. One stalk is starting to show signs of maturity, and the pumpkin leaves are getting huge. Beans are throwing themselves all over the place, having a great time.
I also impulse purchased some cucumber seedlings without any idea where I was going to plant them, so I've put a trellis up at the back and will try growing them up on that. Didn't have anywhere else to put them really.
Realised it's been a while since a #corn update. My little cornfield is well established now. Tallest stalk is up to about waist height.
The two pumpkins are spreading out nicely and providing great ground cover and stopping the ground from drying out in direct sun.
Most of the beans have got started wrapping around some corn, but they're getting a bit ahead of some of the smaller stalks. Maybe should have waited a week or two longer on planting those.
