A young robin bird perched on a fallen tree that runs diagonally up left through the picture. The bird is facing left and is extremely fluffy with a mottled brown and cream chest area, and a fluffy creamy tummy. Ridiculously fluffy.

A juvenile starling glimpsed perching in a hedge, surrounded by branches and green leaves. It has its head pointing to the right, and is in a striking pose, though partially hidden among the greenery. Unsurprisingly for a young bird it is extra fluffy.

Two adult starlings and also a young one in the picture. One of the adults is flying in, with food in its beak, to feed the young one at the left of the picture, who has its beak open, ready. A green hedge full of spiky leaves runs around the left and bottom edge of the picture, and the young bird is perching in this.

Last Friday I walked to Purton Ships Graveyard on the River Severn, where old vessels have been deliberately beached and allowed to silt up, to help fight shore erosion.

I walked through this burgeoning cornfield last week, and I thought - 'The Corn is Green' - which appears to be the title of a 1938 play by Emlyn Williams.

But also, I found this:

Hesleden Dene in Co Durham, North East England, is an absolute delight to visit at this time of the year in early Spring.
Before the leaf canopy fully opens, the dene is light and airy with the sunlight (when it shines) percolating down onto the woodland floor.
Along with nearby Hawthorn Dene, Hesleden Dene is managed by the Durham Wildlife Trust.

Hurworth Burn Reservoir in the late Winter sunshine, near Trimdon in East Durham.
The countryside hereabouts is quite an important site for migrating birds and an old railway line that skirts along one side of of the reservoir, forms part of a popular footpath and cycle route.
As for the reservoir itself, it was originally created to supply water to Hartlepool's industries, rather than a source of drinking water.
