The loop colouring is based on detecting self-intersections of the curve and making a polygon from the point of intersection back to itself. Colour selection is based on the number of overlapping polygons of this sort, with those of fewer intersections being rendered on top.

where θ is the tangent angle and s is the curve length so far. The Ai are amplitudes and the λi are wavelengths. Using the Whewell equation we can get to x and y coordinates.

Spent yesterday adding proper support for aspect ratios to my rendering library. Was a little thorny because I needed to support tiled export, etc. Finally got it working, and then had to revise my current project (and probably a lot more) because I had baked in a lot of assumptions about a square aspect ratio mapping to the unit square. 😅

Feels great to have it working now, though! 🔥🚀
