For #FensteFreitag here's the bridge of a cruise ship and the officers on it waiting around and looking down at the dock with some consternation. This was earlier this year in Trieste some time after we should have sailed away but the captain decided to wait for people late back from exploring town (or drinking, more likely). When the people did turn up dockside they were roundly booed by passengers, as is only right.

A P&O cruise ship, Pacific Adventure, was about to embark on a 13 day tour of NZ but has been turned away because its hull wasn't cleaned.
While I'm happy that our biosecurity is considered to be strict, I'm disappointed that we don't take the same precautions with Covid any longer.
I haven't seen any articles point this out, but #Cruise could not have gotten in trouble for dragging a pedestrian underneath a vehicle if it were using vehicles with low clearance instead of SUVs that have been designed by American automakers to be able to run over people.
I wish that #Cruise wasn't pausing the production of its #Origin vehicle, since the only really good thing about #AutonomousVehicles is the opportunity to completely reimagine how a car looks and functions (and hopefully make them much less deadly to pedestrians).

In the wake of California withdrawing Cruise’s permit to operate self-driving cars in the state, the company announced that it’s suspending all U.S. robotaxi operations.
The move comes after the California Department of Motor Vehicles alleged that Cruise withheld from regulators video footage of a Cruise robotaxi dragging a person down a city street.
The future for the company is uncertain. Its parent company, General Motors, has lost $1.9 billion on Cruise so far this year, including a $732-million loss in the third quarter, according to its latest earnings report.
Competitor Ford shut down its Argo robotaxi unit in 2022, concluding that the possibility of far-off profits weren’t worth the enormous cash drain.

Venice is a super special place. There's also a lot of hard physical work going on, in what are almost medieval conditions.

Third attempt, the connection on our balcony, isn’t so good.
I woke about 6:30 this morning and we were already docked in Cozumel Mexico. I had an espresso while waiting for room service and coffee, there is a machine in the suite. I think I just want a leisurely day in port, maybe just some light shopping.
I checked on Ben and Charlie yesterday, they are doing well. I may have mentioned that Ben was having a couple of minor procedures done while we’re away. He had a cyst removed from his right front paw and a dental cleaning.
