Now here's the fun part: On the ocean floor, seawater is incorporated into minerals of the sediments and shit (literally shit). It becomes one building block of the #crystal #lattice s.
The oceanfloor on the other hand isn't a static thing. It's constantly being driven around by #platetectonics . And after 100Mio years or another, it is usually roadkilled by another tectonic plate that is younger, hotter and lighter (like your mom) in a proces called #subduction.

A composite microscope photo of a single #Quartz #Crystal I found just sitting on the surface. I might clean this one up a bit more, but looking at it closely all the debris is comprised of tiny sphalerite and pyrite crystals.
All rocks are crystals if you look closely enough it seems - its just how big they are.
Hit my first real roadblock with #crystal: OpenSSL RSA keys. Seems like the OpenSSL support in the stdlib is just enough for HTTPS and the various forks I’ve found of OpenSSL_ext are incomplete or conflict with the stdlib OpenSSL. Guess it’s time to roll up my sleeves a little more.

Just went to compile my interruption tracker i ported to #CrystalLang in 2019.
My logical 🧠 knows that it's way better, and more maintainable than the #ChickenScheme version which started as a wee script and just grew out of control.
My ❤️ just doesn't want to fight with types. I also feel kinda betrayed by the language doing... 🤷♀️ whatever it did since 2019 that broke my code.
That's not fair to #Crystal since it's so young but... ❤️s aren't fair.
@thezerobit @veer66 #crystal is up there as well. Types aren't required as long as they can be inferred, so it's perfectly possible to write full programs without ever specifying a type.
Unlike Typescript and Python it's still a fully compiled static language though, so you still have to mind the types that are defined.
