We're visiting #Madrid and noticed how many full width #cycle lanes there are in the city. And cars in them stay behind the #cyclist and don't blast them out of the way with their horns.
Mind you, it helps having streets 6 or 8 lanes wide.
It's up to Berlin's authorities – Manja Schreiner take note – to make sure the city's roads are safe for cyclists. There are absolutely no excuses – it doesn't matter how many car spaces it takes or how many motorists it pisses off. Cyclists shouldn't be dying to keep motorists happy.
And no, Manja, cycling helmets are not the answer. Keeping trucks and cars off cyclists is the answer.

As a keen recreational #cyclist who cannot watch races live, I follow #cycling, not #Vuelta or #LaVuelta. And, ofc, I cannot mute hashtags or topics here.
I was surprised and angered to see Vuelta results posted under #cycling. I'd not have thought that hashtag appropriate for posting GT procycling results.
For sure, seeing last nights race results in my #cycling feed sure screwed up my replay.

Morning report:
• Almost clipped by an SUV as its pilot used the bike lane to budge in line
• Almost doored twice by the same woman who opened both her driver/back passenger doors into traffic

Sometimes after a week of spending so many hours on various bike advocacy tasks, we wonder if anyone realizes how much time the website and other bike projects require (all a volunteer effort, since 2009).

Made it to this morning’s park (alive). On the way, I encountered 3 motorists who were actively aiming for me, even though I was in the bike lane. I’ve begun to use “may you have the day you deserve” as an affirmation instead of hurling invectives at ppl like them. I first saw this affirmation in Black spaces, and I use it now bc it’s powerful in its simplicity.

100%!! As an older female #cyclist, I've had #YEG drivers, usually in trucks, swearing yelling, and starting to get out of their vehicles to fight me if I pointed out their incorrect behaviour on the road. It's quite astonishing.
I definitely prefer to stay in completely separate lanes/paths.

The expectation of the impact of a #bicycle bell is all too often deeply ableist and entitled. It feels like (many? some? occasionally?) cyclists are the new car drivers in shared spaces. I'm a regular #cyclist and #walker and it just saddens me... transportation seems to cause the evaporation of compassion.

I’m a data #journalist with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. My work focuses on data visualization and storytelling, analysis and investigative journalism.
I’m also a recent dad and an avid #skier, #cyclist and general lover of anything to do with #mountains.
I used to tweet a lot, mainly about news in #Calgary, #Alberta, #Canada, and especially about COVID-19 #data during the first two years of the pandemic. But I quit Twitter in December 2022 because it just became too much.
In several German cities (here: Aachen), authorities will put temporary bike stands (referred to as "Bike Flounders") in car parking spots on request. They get installed permanently if there's sufficient demand.

Best way to weigh your bike is to stick in on your bathroom scales.

Very bummed to recently hear that my favorite, local bicycle shop & cafe, Lucky Duck, is set to close shop by the end of this month. I guess the recent break in and lack of help from the #Oakland #police to retrieve their stolen property (despite the location being known) eventually did them in. Lots of good memories of this place, it has been a well loved gathering spot of all sorts of folks, #cyclist and not, over many years in downtown Oakland.
