Der Wahre Mensch des Altertums träumte nicht während des Schlafes und machte sich im Wachen keine Sorgen. Seine Speisen waren nicht aufwendig gewürzt, und sein Atem ging tief. Der wahre Mensch atmete von den Fersen aufwärts, während der gewöhnliche Mensch nur mit dem Brustkorb atmet. Jenen Menschen, die nicht nachgeben wollen, bleiben die Worte im Halse stecken, so als müssten sie sich erbrechen. Wer tiefsitzende Begierden hat, dessen natürliche Reserven sind gewöhnlich seicht.
Der wahre Mensch des Altertums kannte weder die Liebe zum Leben noch die Angst vor dem Tod; er freute sich nicht hervorzutreten, noch widersetzte er sich der Rückkehr. Beiläufig ging er dahin, beiläufig kam er wieder. Er vergaß nicht, was sein Ursprung war, und suchte nicht zu wissen, was sein Ende sein würde. Fröhlich nahm er an, und seiner selbst vergessend, kehrte er zurück. Das ist gemeint mit "den Weg nicht mittels des Verstandes schmälern, dem Himmel nicht mittels des Menschlichen aushelfen." Das ist es, was wir den Wahren Menschen nennen.
Darum hielt sein Geist nicht fest, sein Antlitz war unbewegt, und seine Stirn war von strahlender Offenheit. Herb wie der Herbst, mild wie der Frühling, harmonierten seine Freuden und sein Ärger mit den Jahreszeiten. Er wusste allen Dingen zu entsprechen, aber niemand kannte seine Grenzen...

In addition to VC and traditional #crowdfunding, I find the #DAO structure of #cryptoprojects interesting. The low-threshold way for individuals to take a stake in a project.
Contrary to what many think, not all crypto projects are set up as a #ponzi schemes. Fortunately, there are websites that rate the trust value and transparency of these projects.

There's a real big, fundamental problem with the entire concept of using "smart contracts" on a blockchain as a way to organize co-ops that I haven't seen anyone talk about. You can't use a #DAO to create a co-op because co-op members need to be able to actually read and understand the coordinating documents of the org. Would you take someone seriously who wanted you to join a co-op who's bylaws were written in a foreign language? Well, that's precisely what a #DAO is.

The crux was whether a plaintiff in federal court could satisfy due process by serving a complaint upon an anonymous class of defendants via a notice using a chat bot (which is what the CFTC did).
Looks like the judge told the CFTC to serve one of the known founders but now it’s up for a notice of default.

Yesterday a securities class action lawsuit was filed against several founders & investors in Compound. No class has yet been certified, but notably the named plaintiffs collectively hold less than $100 worth of COMP tokens.
Compound was basically considered the gold standard for the proper way to set up & operate a Decentralized Autonomous Organization or #dao.
This will be one to watch because if Compound gets dinged then few if any DAOs are safe IMO.
