A petroglph on a light brown sandstone depicting what appears to be several deer and bison being hunted by three riders on horseback. (Note: I loath presuming I can interpret pictographs and petroglyphs, because I am not of the culture that created them. While the images may look like bison or deer, to the artist they could have, and likely were, something entirely different. The only reason I offer a description here is for the folks using screen readers. Otherwise, I would not say anything and allow the rock art to stand on its own.)

A rock art panel on dark brown desert vanished sandstone. The central figure has a triangular shaped body, a small round head, two short arms with fingers that hang down, and two legs with feet. There's two other anthropomorphs on each side of the central figure. They feature straight lines with intersecting circles that extend from each hand. There's a few other smaller figures, some four legged, and an image that looks like a fern leaf and one that looks like a snake or maybe a winding river.

Xerolenta obvia is a land snail found throughout most of Europe. Here in Heidelberg is the western limit of its distribution.
They live mainly in dry and open habitats.
When the conditions are right, they can appear in large numbers.

I am quite amazed tbh. Now I started using this crappy (maybe even not so crappy), more than 20 year old camera for fun and discovered it can save a whopping 81 RAW files on a 256 MB CF card.

Guess what happens when you try to open them in @darktable? It just works! And #darktable even has a lens correction profile for this camera. 😲

While spending yesterday afternoon at the Greater #Wannsee in #Berlin I of course had my camera on me and since it was a pretty lazy afternoon too, I spent quite some time playing around with my different lenses trying to get some nice subjects for #PhotoMonday.

Among others I shot those two swans at 200mm and the only thing that saved this picture was a rigorous crop of all the nastiness happening outside of the immediate centre of the frame and a pretty tight aperture of f/18, whereas the uprooted tree in the water I shot at 55mm with an even tighter aperture of f/22 and cropped it only very slightly.
The difference between both ends of that lens' range is so significant and especially bad on the long end, I'm honestly thinking I should get rid of my telephoto and look for a higher quality one that fits in my budget, maybe the Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD? Even the chromatic aberration at the long end is so bad that I really have to push limits in #darktable to handle it.

The stud on the right in the first image is "War Paint." He takes no guff from nobody. After he ran off all of the other studs around the waterhole he came after me. I tried to spook him off but he came back. I now carry a plastic trash bag when I'm photographing feral horses. A rattling trash bag is the boogieman that all horses have nightmares about! Painted Hand Pueblo & Sleeping Ute Mt. I had made plans to cross country hike into this site since road access to the trailhead has been closed for a decade. But, I was happy to discover they finally rerouted the road around the private property owner who had denied access to the site for so long. Sadly, the sky didn't corporate with some dramatic clouds or sunset colors. Guess I'll just have to go back & try again! 🙂

Casey IL is known for having the "world's largest" version of several items. It's a fun visit if you find yourself nearby.

I took several photos under harsh sunlight and decided they looked better with a black & white conversion. I also added a little grain. Then I decided to bring up the colors on certain elements. I think it works 😃

All processing done in #Darktable without fancy iPhone AI stuff.
