After working with #python #plotly #dash for a few days, I'm annoyed.
It makes really cool "hello world" examples. Anything larger is extremely bulky.
It's a state-less web thing, so I need redis/whatever-the-fuck/massive time/net hits just to, like, *store information in variables*.
Except there are no non-toy examples of this. Does anyone outside of medium articles use this thing?

OK, it begins to make sense. These things just return back dictionaries. Probably to hand to the #plotly #javascript engine that actually displays in the browser.
As a bonus, if #dash can do grids of text as well as it seems to do plots, I might be able to ditch a work frenemy. And there's no reason it shouldn't--it's just #flask

Hey #python #dash coders. I have a bug that I don’t seem to be able to debug. I had a multi page app in which one of the pages had a dcc.Upload element. It was working great until today. I changed other stuff in my app (nothing related to the upload part) and now I cannot make it work. It appears on my page but if I upload a file, it doesn’t trigger the callbacks. I get no error message either. Any ideas? I cannot find solutions online 😞

Over the last years I have been developing a new biophysical model of #sealice infestation generated by Scottish fish farms. Preliminary models showed that the main issue was the cumulative effects of farms that can locally make the ocean unsafe for wild smolts. Everywhere on the map where it is yellow, about 30% of fish would die each day. This is a #dash #plotly app hosted on #Kubernetes that will allow decision makers to independently juge of the situation.

Should I use a normal space, a non-breaking-space, a hair space or maybe a non breaking hair space? No space at all? Or something else? Or should the space before and after both be differen? Non-breaking before, for instance, and normal after? Or the other way around?

In preparation for #rustBeltRust tomorrow, I've been giving the #ion shell (built in #rust) another look.
And, I've got to say… *WOW*
Last time I checked it out, I liked it in general, but was put off by its startup time. On my machine, it was ~100ms (about like Python or Ruby—not terrible, but definitely noticeable)
But its startup time is now *under a millisecond*—notably faster than #bash and getting pretty close to #dash.
I think I have a new scripting language for utility scripts!
