@schizanon no, I never did. The technology (blockchain) is fascinating, and the future use cases are intriguing, but the overt scams have put me off of #defi for the time being.
I mined bitcoin back in ~2008 when it was just an app for Linux that I kept running on my desktop at home for a few years. IIRC I had about 20 BTC at one point. When bitcoin hit $60K I spent a full weekend digging through old backups (a box of old hard drives in the garage) looking for my wallet, but no luck, haha.

The amount of active #DeFi users is about the same as the current active users of the #Fediverse. However, the potential of the "federated social" is way bigger than blockchain-based "decentralized social".
Why? Because the user experience can be made much better outside the blockchains. But Web3 companies can still benefit from building their Fediverse communities in a way that is compatible with their ethos of open source and decentralization.
There are still many problems to solve before the Fediverse can go through the next growth spurt. Finding and choosing a server, and then finding people & conversations is still way too difficult.
I'm confident that those problems will get solved soon enough, as I said in my web3 speech yesterday.
