Just watched a story on NBC News about how the understudy for #Jasmine for the #Broadway run of #Aladdin got the experience of a lifetime with the help of #Delta airlines when...

While in flight coming back from vacation in Europe she received news that she would be performing as Jasmine that evening (the lead).

Delta went WAY above and beyond! (I've talked about how awesome Delta is as an airline and why they are a cut above, well this is just another example.)

The flight attendants moved her to first-class so she would be off the flight quicker!

The pilot changed gates so she would clear customs quicker!

And to top it off, Delta arranged for a HELICOPTER TAXI to pick her up from the airport and take her to Broadway cutting a 90 minute cab ride down to SEVEN MINUTES!

Which STILL didn't leave much time for her to get into makeup, get her hair done, and step into wardrobe before the curtains raised that evening.

Suffice it to say, her flight attendant did enjoy comp'd tickets to the show that evening (and well deserved).

I've said this before, the DNA at Delta is just different than other airlines. Yet another reason why I'll happily fly them over other airlines when I can.

Yesterday a Delta Airlines flight from Seattle to Salt Lake was delayed until a passenger got a notification on the Delta app saying that there was no possibility of making the connection to the second leg of the trip from Salt Lake to Albuquerque and advising the flier to cancel that flight.
The flier did, then was refused boarding the flight from Seattle to Salt Lake and told that in canceling the second leg of the trip, the entire booking had been canceled.

Some combination of #Delta and #AirFrance lost my checked bag whilst returning from Chicago a couple of days ago. I've never had a bag lost before. I've done a fair number of commercial flights over the years and try as much as always to go carry-on only, but I guess it was bound to happen some day.

Anyway, I filled out the paperwork at the airport and my claim has been filed, but I'm not sure what sort of delay to expect. It's not the money; mostly I just want to get my stuff back. :/

It's so distressing. Talked on the phone with a close friend, our friendship decades old, who is sick. She never got the Covid vaccine, refuses to, and had a devastating case of #Delta a couple of years ago. She's obese with co-morbidities and over 65. She refuses to wear a mask.

I asked her if she took a Covid test. She insisted it was not Covid as the woman she got it from went to the doctor and the doc simply told her it was 'some virus'. So, she didn't even test.

She says she's really tired and when she's active it sets her back. She is wandering around without a mask. Tomorrow she's going to some church function and will be passing around her little gift.

I've stopped talking Covid with her because it's pointless. Still, it's distressing. We haven't seen each other since mask mandates were repealed here. She refuses to wear a mask, even for me (still working on that).

It occurred to me that she doesn't want to hear about Covid anymore. To her it's over. I realised that Covid interferes with what she wants to do- it's that simple.

So, the mere thought of Covid is inimical to her. The idea that it still exists, the enemy. No, wait, the fact that I would mention it as a possibility is the enemy. It's as if uttering the word is to be the bearer of bad news, to despoil, to inject darkness. She recoils.

I don't get it. It just makes me want to cry. This is the world now. Full of despair.

Cough has been a thing throughout, runny nose more of a thing, chest pain similar rates between delta and omicron. Loss of taste/smell is less common in omicron than original. @rbreich I very much wanted to return to my electro mechanical #assembly line job at Lam Research. I have severe #asthma and was ordered back to work when #delta was just on the rise. I refused because they are not requiring #vaccination. Lam said I quit and tried to stop my #unemployment during #covid ; they always said we were a family. I treat stray dogs better than that. Now I make a quarter what I did. Covid broke my life.
