Please, do NOT put down corporate giants (Machiavellian), billionaires (narcissists), journalistic cowboys (liars) etc by using words to describe mental illness and mental health issues. Eg. "loon", "crazy", the "r" word, etc etc (there are so many words out there - you know what they are).
I've been guilty of this myself for decades even though as a child my father banned those words due to his brother living with cognitive disabilities, but I have been slowly trying to change my societally accumulated ways.
The use of these words as a negative sinks into the psyche of the people around you and many of us suffer from psychological pains and language is just another thing to weigh us down, making it harder to get out of bed each day.
Language is a rich tapestry and dictionaries exist, please take the time to expand your vocabulary to eliminate the off-hand, unintentional hurt.
Thank you 🙏🏼

ça me fatigue !

Feeling hopeful today. While I am not ready to return to my dream job at Microsoft right now, I am starting to plan what my return will look like.
This is my third leave for my #Depression and #Anxiety and, in the past, I have done two weeks at 50% and then gone back to full time. I am 0 for 2 with that plan, since here I am on another leave.
This time, my return will be more gradual and include more meaningful self-advocacy. Feels good.
"Living in a culture that...actually shuts down people who are trying to build better things is a really isolating and destructive experience.
"...#ClimateChange is throwing...pain, #trauma, #stress, angst & cultural toxicity at us. It can breed distrust, apathy...nihilism & ...deep fear. Even for people who are experiencing the #ClimateCrisis at a distance, through the lens of the #media, there’s a medically recognised causal pathway to #depression, #anxiety & #PTSD.”

No matter how much it hurts, no matter how much your mind makes you believe your alone. Your not.

Overdid it yesterday. Didn't feel like it yesterday, but I'm extra low on energy today, as well as struggling with sensory stuff.
I feel frustrated by this because I have benefit forms to fill in.
I am trying to be kind to myself.
It helps that my counsellor, yesterday, said how proud she was of the progress I've made this year.

Blood sugar issues, hormone imbalances, and gut issues in particular can affect mood stability.

This is quite a deep read though a series of articles, bit worth it if the topic interests you.

#Ketamine (a powerful sedative) and #psilocybin (the active ingredient in magic mushrooms) have a reputation as party drugs, but they can also provide elusive relief for depressed individuals who have not responded to other therapies.
But will the beneficial effects stand the test of time? And are hallucinations a side effect, or part of the cure?

Weird week. Been in a funk I can’t shake.
Darkness. Fog. Sadness. Rumination. #depression.
Decided to bury myself in my work. In between breaks there was #running and #biking and #swimming and walking my #dogs.
Piece by piece, I know it will pass. But damn. When does it all get easier?
Cheers to the #light. We’ll get there. Greater things are still to come.

Seasonal affective disorder – or SAD – happens when the reduced amount of daylight puts your circadian rhythm out of sync, but you can help align them with winter’s light schedule.
Things to keep in mind as fall begins:
☀️Get daylight as soon as possible on waking up
💤Get the best quality of sleep that you can by avoiding stimulants like coffee, tea or heavy meals close to bedtime

Out of necessity I have forced myself to be singularly focused on tackling some clutter demons that built up during COVID. I may not get to 100% by the time family arrives but I will do my best.
This was due to many layered issues, enhanced by isolation and stress surrounding COVID and struggling to get school district to do the needful. It’s nice to begin emerging, but I see some goals here out of this mess.

I'm currently getting out of a heavy #depression and I'm feeling much better lately, but today I still feel, like I don't want to live anymore.
I can't say that my depression is coming back or that I'm super sad again or anything. I just logically see no reason for me to live anymore:
* I have no purpose in live: For 4 years now I tried to make Fridays For Future my purpose in life, but I failed miserably.
* I have nothing that makes me happy
* I have essentially no friends
* The people I like the most want nothing or next to nothing to do with me. No offense to those people that are friendly with me - you're cool, you're just not *that* to me.
* I live off my father's pocket and he won't be able to afford me very much longer. I'm all out of money and the state still doesn't pay me anything.
* I don't think it will ever get better.
I really want to end this.
The Sad Bastard Cookbook is a cookbook written with people who experience #depression in mind. The idea of #cooking or shopping seem like Way Too Much but still have to eat a food? This is for you!
I feel ok right now but it is time for me to make my grocery order...I think I'm going to use the grocery list and some recipes here because I don't have a lot of time or brain space to cook for myself right now but I always feel better when I do.

I've got a lot on my mind and the #depression isn't making it any easier. I just feel so lost. I know I'll get better soon as I rest for the weekend but I hate having to struggle with it all the time.
I am feeling really slow and dumb. I don't like this feeling.
I am not dumb. I am sometimes slow. I am sometimes fast.
I am especially frustrated by my inability to explain things clearly. It's all in my head, but it comes out in meetings in disparate chunks of info. I know it is frustrating and confusing for people. It's hard to not just stop trying.
I am doing my best, and that's the most I can ask of myself.

This may be obvious to some folks, but finding some #cozy or #silly #anime to watch does help with coping with #anxiety or #depression. Like for instance Restaurant from Another World is a #cooking anime that has fantasy characters and focuses on their issues and how food helps resolve it. If you’ve written off anime as a genre I would say give it a chance. There are so many different genres. Like try Spy x Family. It’s a masterpiece of the dynamics of a found family with exciting stories but so wholesome.

Having a really low day... I could barely sleep last night, struggling with insomnia, ADHD, and pain.
Pain especially... it's finally starting to cool off a little and my chronic joint pain is through the roof, and I just got off a week of being sick with a cold.
I'm really depressed right now and feeling trapped. My car has been out of commission since February and my joint pain makes it hurt so much to walk places (and taking the bus still involves a significant amount of walking/standing)... so I've hardly left the house all year.
I hardly see anybody and I'm really lonely, if I didn't have my sibling living with me I don't know how I'd survive.
Please send some kind words to fight off the intrusive thoughts.
Wow, I’ve been fending off #depression pretty well for the past few weeks but #nostalgia - depression’s evil cousin hit me pretty hard today. I’ve gotta get my mind out of the #past and firmly into the present and future.

A well-known Croatian journalist announced the publication of his book where he describes his decades long life with #depression. Unfortunately, in #Croatia, this is still a #tabu in public discourse, and even worse, it's a non-existent theme in public health discourse, too. The awful comments I've been reading these past few days online make me sad and feeling hopeless for our society. All I can say to those people is count yourselves lucky if you don't know what life with depression is.
🍄 Evidence Grows for Psilocybin as a Treatment for Depression
A research review published this month in the Journal of Psychiatric Practice shows that a growing body of evidence suggests that psilocybin could be an effective treatment for depression
I made a lot of progress with my depression these past weeks and am finally motivated to read and write again.
I've started writing an #AutoBiography a long time ago, to cope with what I've been through, but also to release it one day.
I'd love to let other people contribute chapters to my book. Essays on various topics that come up in my story.
So now I'm asking you all, if there is anyone who could think of writing such an essay for me, because you are affected by the topic yourself, or are an expert in the field.
Or if you know someone, who would be perfect for that topic.
Here are a few of the topics:
#depression
#GenderIdentity
#asexuality
#SurveillanceCapitalism
#Fediverse ( @ueckueck, you said you might write that one, still interested?)
#SocialPhobia
#WTFromance
#SelfHarm
#suicidality
There are other topics as well, but I already have people in mind who I'll directly ask to write essays about them; especially topics around #ClimateJustice.
The essays should be at least 2-5 pages long and provide a general gist about the topic, but ideally also contain something personal, like what the topic means to you.
Written in #English or #German.
Preliminary deadline is summer '24, but a lot can change until then and if you need longer, don't worry.
Please :boost: #boost. Thanks. ❤️

Okay all -- It's early days for figuring out how to help people with
Long COVID.
That said, a bit of promising research is starting to surface.
I'm taking the unusual step of emailing EVERYONE because at this point
many of you with anxiety and depression symptoms may have some Long
COVID (brain fog, sleep issues, the depression or anxiety itself!).
A good write-up about what Long COVID is can be found here. Yes, you
can had a trivial case of COVID-19 and still get Long COVID symptoms for
days, weeks, months, or years. Some cases of it are somewhat "mild":
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/long-term-effects/index.html
*The bottom-line of the video is right at the end. For long COVID:
-- Get outside one hour per day.
-- May cover up if sensitive to sun (near UV rays will get through
clothing anyway)
-- Best if in nature (surrounded by green)
-- Do not look directly at sun (duh)
-- May wear a hat (near UV rays will get through clothing anyway)
-- Sitting in a sunny window no longer good enough (most glass now has
to be certified to block the rays we want)
He also promises to talk about how intermittent fasting may help in a
future video.
*
Roger Seheult, MD is the co-founder and lead professor at
https://www.medcram.com/
He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, Critical
Care, and Sleep Medicine and an Associate Professor at the University of
California, Riverside School of Medicine. He is also an ER doctor.
Before the pandemic, MedCram mainly seemed to be training for doctors to
pass exams. Since the start of COVID, Dr. Seheult has done occasional
more accessible videos for the general public on COVID-related topics.
To actually understand why something this simple may help -- and listen
to some research, please watch:

If you followed my mh posts lately you will have noticed, that I'm doing a lot better than just a few weeks ago.
I'm not over my depression yet, but I'm getting there - and oh how that sucks!
I've identified with #depression, pain, loss and fear for 4 years now.
I'm partially over that now, but objectively my life is no better for it.
Except now its also boring!
I wish I had friends that were happy for me and celebrated my success.
I wish I had someone to love and do everything better with them according to what I've learned.
I wish I had a meaning in life - until now it was to get rid of my depression.
I wish I had things that actually made me happy, instead of just not being sad.
What good is it to not be depressed if you're still lonely, miserable and meaningless?
I just wish I felt something, so I would feel alive.
Now we know that depression is a risk factor in developing type 2 diabetes, and complex trauma is another risk factor (plus genetics, being fat, and not moving enough), will governments actually put more money into mental health? Will we be able to have more Medicare funded mental health care, perhaps have the limits removed entirely? Diabetes costs the Australian government a lot of money and we know that prevention is better than cure
I finally got speakers for my desktop computer, so I can much more easily fuel my depression through hazy 90s dream pop. #depression #dreampop
Some typical responses to different levels of #stress in this infographic that lists criteria for different areas on the "stress continuum". I can use this to remind myself that I won't always feel as I feel now (for better and worse).
Thriving: “I got this.”
Surviving: “Something isn’t right.”

3/4 I occasionally fall into my old habit of Anxiety and Depression, nowhere nearly as much as I used to, plus just to top it all off I have a bit of Arthritis at the base of my spine which flares up now and again.
My morning routine always includes taking my various medications, seven tablets every morning covering my health issues and I have appointments with the Nephrologist and have blood tests every 6 months or so.
New instance, might as well do an #introduction: Hey, I'm Jan. I'm a 32 years old cishet dude from the north of Germany. I'm a software engineer professionally and for fun (mostly in #python) but I also enjoy good #music, #coffee, #podcasts and #audiobooks. I'm struggling with #depression, pretty severely from time to time, and I might end up posting (CW’d) from a dark place, when things are bad. Also, follow me for the occasional dog photo (tax attached).
