I spent the whole day arguing with organisations that are supposed to help people because they employ dodgy people and do stuff without your consent. There’s hundreds of them. They can’t interpret their own contracts and lack comprehension skills. Not volunteers, trained ‘professionals’.

I started asking for help to gain an independent life free of #abuse and #neglect in September of last year and I’m cynical AF but never expected this level of bullshit for so long.

There’s a lack of funding, yes. But there’s also a lack of regulation. There shouldn’t be 100 orgs that do roughly the same thing and be unavailable all at once.

Mostly they don’t help. Just bloody help.

For people who don’t get how hard it is: there’s only one #disability #advocate with a vacancy BUT funded for a suburb outside of my catchment so no use to me. ONE.

Try finding medium-longterm #accommodation for a #disabled person - doesn’t exist. If you manage to find any #emergency #accommodation you have limited number of days there. Know what happens then? If you’ve got nowhere to go you’re #homeless. Right now there’s unprecedented demand.

That’s why I’m still stuck here putting up with absolute bullshit - for now it’s better than being out on the street.

I am so tired. 😩

Unfortunately, #BicycleCulture folks are very #ableist & I've yet to see any of them provide adaptive accessible transport options for #disabled or #MobilityChallenged folks in their #UrbanPlanning or any actual #transportation #infrastructure plans.

So i recently had this conversation where i said that i avoided walmart for disability reasons. the person i was with really wanted to go for some reason. He asked me why and then gave me all these suggestions about how it could be better, and told me i was being unreasonable and i needed to be more flexible and "it's ok to leave your comfort zone every once and a while" i found that rude, but this guy is not the first one to say such things to me.

@MollyNYC I agree with @mlibby that the potential harm of "we all might be disabled some day" is bigger than the potential benefit.

The reverse side of the coin is that situations that don't potentially apply to everyone some day — like being neuroatypical, or trans, or Black — don't deserve the same support and accommodation.

If we used this argument in the #disabled community, we might benefit, but we'd be throwing a lot of our allies under the bus.

We're stronger together.

Stardew Valley is a great game to explain life of a chronically ill person.

Since yesterday I struggle a lot with the feelings of loneliness and isolation. I have beagle Lumi, I appreciate alone time and social interactions are often overwhelming for me, but I wish I had a community irl to share experiences, to help each other, to inspire each other. My family is trying to move into more affordable housing, and we need to replace our dressers and some other things that are falling apart. Me and my husband have chronic pain, I'm disabled & so our family is single income, so it would be nice to be able to save to replace our couch, which is broken
