Real question: How do I make MILO taste better?
This is my second attempt at this drink. I mixed in approximately seven teaspoonfuls of the powder and it still tastes like... slightly mealy brown water with some weird, processed, aftertaste. Is this just how it is? The buddha-mug wants to know.

I had no idea what we'd have in our apartment and what, how much we'd cook, eat, drink (just us & possibly others?) - so grabbed a few things, ha including a small ice cube tray so I could make partner a #highball or three.
Kid2 recently found these adorable glasses and we discovered the patterns on them are #thermochromic ! (The other glass has ginko leaves that turn yellow)

A twofer for #FridayNight - and in total coincidence (I had no idea what/where this bottle I'd stuck in the fridge a week ago, was from; it was in a boxed assortment) - this Hamafukutsuru junmai daiginjo #sake is from Hyogo #Kobe Nada area too. And also really nice! Smooth long sweet flavor

Another small bottle (and among the nicest bottles) but will definitely get bigger! Fridge cold - could taste the umami & slight syrupiness that thinned out and turned sweeter by the next glass. First sake I've had I could imagine how it might be warm (and it'd be good).
Maybe it helped I had fried fish and fried rice just before but this Kenbishi is terrific.

Gangi - Junmai (60%) from Yamaguchi prefecture - perhaps the first namazake (raw/unfiltered without further pasteurization) I'm trying. Picked it (junmai over the daiginjo expression) somewhat randomly or unknowingly (I was looking for Gangi).
Quite different from some others I've tried so far and eminently quaffable.

No yellow chartreuse but just needed ยผ oz for Morgenthaler's Norwegian Wood* - and I've had good experience w #Brennevin for Aquavit. And with that name for a #Cocktail - went full on for this #Iceland ic Wood variant (<ยผ oz green chartreuse & <ยผ oz birch liqueur to sweeten in lieu of the called for yellow)
Indeed a most delightful drink - even as I took some liberties on this Fallen Leaves adjacent #drink (h/t @DrinkBoy - see QT๐๐ฝ* for recipe & notes).
I thought I had picked up Calvados last year, but realizing I opted for this Laird's Apple 'Brandy' (not Applejack) offering and a bottle of Armagnac. The Laird's is still whiskyish so went with the splash of bourbon - may try the armagnac in the next #cocktail because yes, I fully intend to have another!
