EXACTLY. I literally cannot wear in-ear #earbuds, for comfort reasons and also to avoid fatigue and dizziness. It drives me insane how there aren't many of them, and not many of them are good. #Apple's regular #EarPods are comfortable (to my ears), but they don't last long despite how expensive they are. There are other cheap ones that are similar and work fine, but none that comes to mind that I'd recommend. Apple's #AirPods might be the only/best non in-ear buds there is rn, but if you use it too often, I cannot stomach having to dispose of the AirPods after a couple of years (after 1 year even) when its battery gets scuffed. This is probably true for any wireless earphones (maybe even headphones).
I have to say though, as someone who's anti in-ear earphones my whole life, #AirPodsPro has my approval. I don't know what magic they pulled (it's apparently partly has to do with the vents) but wearing them in your ears, + enable the bud's Transparency mode (which until today is still the ONLY good transparency/awareness mode to exist even compared to other expensive, much bigger #headphones like #Sony's XM line and #Bose's QC line), you will literally feel like you're not wearing anything - comfort-wise AND most importantly, hearing-wise. You will hear ur surroundings not 1db quieter, or louder, it's really that natural sounding.
Despite feeling like you're not wearing anything in your ears though, and it is THAT comfortable, it will still hurt the insides of ur ears if u wear it all day/night. But that could just be me, since I have earphones on even while sleeping. My only complaint I have of the AirPods Pro though other than the pain I sometimes get after extremely long use, is that I find it... pretty quiet. I'm not sure if it's true, but it certainly feels quieter even when compared to my regular AirPods Gen 1. The mic is pretty meh too if that matters, the mic on the regular wired EarPods is significantly better.

No, because there is no seal with your ear canal, rendering such a feature pointless. This is physics, not a poor product choice.

"Okay, but these are expensive, so I should recommend an alternative. How about... some other thing that you'll have to dig into your scull."

Some people (myself included) don't like their hearing being completely blocked off, reliance on a transparency mode that is probably terrible, the physical discomfort of something penetrating in towards their eardrum, having to try several sets of first-and-third-party tips, and the endless fiddling to get a good fit. Stop trying to sell #AirPods Pro to those people. However rare a more open design might be, it is a legitimate product category in its own right. Comparing it to something it isn't aiming to be, every single time, is not helpful.

Note though that nearly every guide does state you should apply rubbing alcohol to the cloth, and not spray or apply it directly to the device being cleaned.

You know why good sounding wireless earbuds are so expensive? It's not because of the audio quality, no, it's because of all the other shit, chips, batteries and so on.
Do you know how good of a pair of wired earbuds you can get for less than 50 bucks?!
I'm at a point where I'd rather have a cable than connection issues or having to babysit yet another battery.
Hear me out: you don’t have to spend a lot to get great wireless earbuds. In early summer, I started using my AirPods (gen 2) again because they’re so convenient. Then a month ago, I was thinking it’d be nice if they had a USB-C port for charging (or at least the Qi wireless charge feature) like the newly updated AirPods Pro 2. Then it hit me: I’ll just use my JBL headphones since they have USB-C, sound much better than AirPods, and have noise cancelling. But there are trade-offs.
The big trade-off was losing the convenience and comfort of Apple’s pocketable earbuds. I wondered, could I find a wireless audio solution without compromise? It would combine the USB-C, noise cancellation, and big sound of my JBL headphones with the compact convenience of earbuds and be affordable. In other words, something like the AirPods Pro 2 without the high price tag.
That sounds challenging, but I thought it might be possible; true wireless earbuds today are a commodity. That’s likely why Apple plans to revamp its AirPod lineup in coming years. Yet I was afraid to risk losing money on a pair of earbuds that don’t fit my ears or have some technical problems.
I have good experience with my JBL Tune 760NC headphones and my JBL Go 2 bluetooth speaker, so I thought I’d see what else the company offers. It turns out that JBL has a large lineup of true wireless earbuds. It also has deals on its website, like a discount for joining its mailing list. Reviews for most of its earbuds are generally good. After looking, I let them simmer on the back burner.
A couple weeks later, I got an Amazon alert on a deal: 50% off a pair of JBL earbuds! So I checked them out, read a few customer reviews, then rolled the dice. Normally, the sell for $100, but I nabbed them for $50. I figured that for such a reasonable price, I wouldn’t lose much if they turned out to be ear-duds.
They arrived the next day and…wait, what? Wow!
I’ve been using the JBL Tune 230NC true wireless earbuds for over a week now, and I love them. They’re so impressive, I can easily say that while the earbuds cost me $50, I would gladly have paid the full $100 for them, knowing now they’re worth every penny. In a nutshell, they seem like worthy alternatives to the Apple AirPods Pro 2, which set a high standard. I’ve never used AirPods Pro so I can’t really say. But the JBL 230s literally made my smile and eyes go wide when I first used them.
Bonus: mine are the same color blue as my JBL headphones and also nearly match the color of my iPhone!

Here’s what I like about them:
- In-ear design (with three tip sizes): good sound isolation seal and secure fit
- Small earbuds and charging case: super mobile
- Surprisingly deep bass: full sound like my over-ear JBL headphones
- Noise cancelling: I can comfortably and clearly hear the audio over most noise
- Customizable touch controls: easy to gently tap either earbud to control settings or features
- USB-C charging: convenient!
In addition to the above features and benefits, the JBL 230s also work with an iPhone app. It lets you easily control different settings and customize things like touch controls and equalizer settings. There’s also a mode called Ambient Aware, like AirPods Pro Transparency mode. It lets you hear outside sound while the earbuds are sealed in your ears, kind of like hearing aids.
Summary
I’m sure if I bought Apple’s AirPods Pro 2, I’d love them. But I think I’ve got something that’s better. The JBL Tune 230NC earbuds seem very much like Pro AirPods on paper, having similar features. The biggest difference, though, is even at normal full price, the JBLs cost less than half of the AirPods Pro 2 price. Yet I’d guess the 230s are more than half as good as AirPods Pro. So the value, especially at $50, is incredible. Maybe I should buy a second pair for backup and choose a different color.

My ears slowly spit out earbuds' silicone ear tips, so I'm test-driving some silicone-coated memory foam ones. My first impression is that these feel much cozier than the tips that came with my Soundcore Life P3s. They're very comfy so far, and neither earbud has yet leapt to the floor. #Earbuds

So, this month I want to buy some good Bluetooth earbuds. Ones that won't lag and stuff with Android. I have a Galaxy S20 FE 5G, but I'm not really sure which codecs it really supports. So, which headphones/earbuds, under like $300, are really good, have nice base like the AirPods Pro, and have as little latency as possible?

- A Samsung S9 has space for a jack, but the gigantic Note 23 with a pen can’t find space for a jack?
- Removing dedicated fingerprint sensors on the back/side that are easy to feel without looking and work better (they also double as sensors for gestures), to replace them with the impossible to blind-spot crappy in-screen sensors?
- And who is the idiots that thought curving the sensitive touch display on a device that’s already large and hard to operate one-handed was a good idea? You get a curved screen only to use a custom app to deactivate the curved sides to prevent accidental touches.

In general headphones/earbuds comparison, I hardly see "open-ear" type earbuds make the list. It is sad because I personally prefer the open-ear type which doesn't require trying silicone inserts of different size.

They aren't for everyone, and the sound quality is spoken word only, but if you want to listen to audio books or podcasts while a little kid interrupts you every five seconds, they're a game changer. They have a donut-like design you can wear all day hat lets outside noise in, and feel like wearing no #earbuds at all — no more itchy ear canal! Call quality is great too.
Bought a pair of Boltune BT-BH020 wireless earbuds (image on left) a while back for around $20 when they were on sale (I think they're usually around $60?) and they're GREAT (sure, I've temporarily misplaced one of the earbuds), but I also bought a pair of 2Boom ones from Dollar Tree (image on right) for $5 the other day, and they seem pretty great too. Nice to have more affordable options around that are still of decent quality.
This #nuraphones audio profile feature is black magic for sure (with a marketing cue) but they surely sound mind-blowing.

PSA if you're looking for a pair of true wireless earbuds right now—or want to buy a pair as a gift for Christmas: You DO NOT have to pay a small fortune for AirPods if you don't want to. I'm testing a bunch of mid-range, buds for TechRadar and you can get powerful sound, eerily good noise cancellation and a very comfy design for much less. These are the JBL Live Pro 2 and I LOVE them, but there's a lot of choice in the £100ish price range, so shop around.
