What database(s) do you recommend for me to keyword/title search as many academic journals, books as possible? I tried RIPM, RILM, Google books, and Google so far.
Earlier this week I was looking for any articles to do with the composer "H.M.T." from D-Lr Mus.Ant.Pract. K.N. 209, and if anyone had figured out who it is (the most recent information I could find is in Repertorium Orgelmusic in 2001 in which it is unsolved).

Stanno rispondendo positivamente. Che ben.

Vieni anche tu?

The King’s Health - a political song from the reign of Charles II.

It's sung to the tune of Farrinel's Ground, also known as La Follia. This ground, used as a base for divisions (variations) for both instruments and voices, was popular throughout the early modern period.

Written in the early 1680s, at the time of the Popish Plot, the song praises the King and the Duke of York (the future James II), encouraging everyone to drink to their health. It is virulently anti-Catholic and anti-Whig.

Robin Jeffrey: lute
Alison Kinder: bass viol

Ben, procediamo.

#Lenten Stuff - a #16thCentury #ballad by William Elderton.
From MS Ashmole 48.

A good description of #Lent in Tudor England, with complaints (among other things) about an excess of #fish, #leeks and #nettles. It also mentions the traditional figure of #JackaLent, a stuffed effigy, usually made of straw, which was dragged through the streets during Lent, and burned on #PalmSunday.

A question for Jews familiar with the training of cantors!!

In many (Ashkenazi) recordings I’m hearing a lot of vibrato is used. Is this common practice? I’m wondering when it changed from more plain singing.

Any Jewish Musicologists on here?

One of my favorite-ever Christmas albums is an early-music release from the ensemble Sinfonye. My favorite from the album is the 15th-century "Nowell, nowell, nowell! This is the salutacyon of the angell Gabryell". The lyrics are in Middle English, so it may sound odd.

After a long instrumental intro the vocalists let you know they're here to kick ass & drink cider... and they're all out of cider.

I've never actually used twitter a lot and detest facebook, but still use it. The exodus from twitter lately has made Mastodon visible enough that I'm hoping it will finally have the momentum to take over!

It seems, unsurprisingly, there's a lot of tech talk on here, but a lot less of the arty world. My niche of #earlyMusic and #harpsichord is sorely underrepresented. Hopefully that will change soon!
