You read the news. I read the news. Why do some folks (mostly, technocrats/bureaucrats and engineers) think that moving school domains from whatever they are on now (.org, .us, .net TLDs, etc.) to .gov TLD helps?
It will play as a conspiracy in some quarters and literally put people's lives at risk: the federal government spying on kids, pushing social issues, microchipping kids (I've heard some stuff over the years). FFS, we are apparently book banning already.
Read the room. There are more workable solutions to reaching a better place. #edtech

A great couple of days of learning, connection and collaboration here at Moodle Moot Global, 2023 🧡
A few themes we've seen this year so far:
- UX, UI, and design thinking: Moodlers are focused on improving user experiences.
- Incredible Moodle add ons: there are so many tools at our disposal!
- How we can make the different types of education a priority for life (not limited to formal education).
- Technology as a tool to serve humans and not to replace them. 🙌
If you would like to see the presentations in the future, enrol in the Moodle Moot Global 2023 course here: https://moodle.academy/
It offers byte/bite sized summaries of edtech and #lms news
They have a story about the coderunner question type, one of the most innovative additions to Moodle quiz, which is already the best quiz engine anywhere by a huge margin..
And by the way, the book promoted by #lmsdaily is well worth looking into..
I'm starting to question AI policies in syllabi. There's essentially no way to know if a student used AI for an assignment--so no policy restricting use of AI can be enforced. So why have the policy? Is it any different from having a policy in a math class stating that students aren't allowed to use a calculator to do their homework.
I do see the value in giving students advice on pros/cons of using AI.

Nothing ticks me off more than people going around behind my back and "borrowing" stuff that isn't theirs to help themselves to. And the principal encouraged it. I hate working in #EdTech! :neocat_angry:
PS I know it says 'national' which broadcasts that the focus is on the U.S., last year we had attendees and speakers from other countries - as far away as New Zealand last year. So, if you work with in the primary/secondary education sector, don't rule us out.

I try to follow only education or educator accounts. I will share my following list later with you and you can import them so you can get going with more edu folks. Very happy to have provided a testimonial for the #edtech tragedy report. It is immense and detailed - going on 600 pages - but bound to be an essential and importantly provocative source for puncturing wild technohype and solutionism in education ... which we're already experiencing again with AI boosterism of course
Enormous new report from
@unesco on the #edtechtragedy that unfolded during Covid school closures. A lot remains to be learned from what many called, as the pandemic struck, "a great edtech experiment". The global #edtech experiment was boosted by many, but experienced badly by many, many more students and teachers. Tech has its place in schools, but not how it was imagined as a great technosolution. https://unesco.org/en/node/87489
