#ElderScrollsOnline is so good as a single player questing game. So much lore, the visuals are the best of any #ElderScrolls game to date, the physics don't break if you enter a room the wrong way, etc. There are some downsides to being always online with other people, but generally speaking I really enjoy wandering around the world, doing quests, reading lore books, bumping into other players, crafting better gear for myself, etc.

The more I study German #folklore, the more I appreciate the in-setting lore of the #ElderScrolls games. Like real folklore, they have a multitude of interpretations and authorial points of view, with some fragments portrayed as fiction written by in-setting authors, while others are written as if they were scholarly treatieses (complete with snarking at other authors!), while others are regional folk tales or other local anecdotes.
It truly makes the setting come alive, in a way few other video game franchises can match.
#Starfield , as the latest #Bethesda game, cannot really match this - perhaps because the settings is still so new and yet underdeveloped. It does have a small number of in-setting texts and lores, but they don't yet weave such a rich tapestry as those of its predecessors.

The flaw that I see in the reviews of #Bethesda's "#Starfield" is that this is the most ridiculously massive & comprehensive game I've ever seen and it's hard to appreciate the value of how VAST this thing is after reviewing it for a week.

So as a #GamePass subscriber I was going to wait for #Starfield, although a huge fan of the #ElderScrolls and moderate fan of #Fallout, I wasn't really looking forward to Starfield, but I got the Premium Upgrade pass a couple of days ago to play it early.

J'ai joué à #Morrowind dès sa sortie, quand un pote me l'a offert sur CD gravé pour mon anniversaire (et même 15 jours avant sa sortie en fait, au fanday que je vous racontais l'autre fois). Puis j'ai eu une version legit gratos mais moche avec ma carte graphique... Ce n'est que des mois (des années ?) plus tard que j'ai mis la main sur la version collector : je me souviens encore de dizaines et de dizaines de ces mini #bigbox alignées dans les rayons de la FNAC.

J'ai le souvenir assez net d'avoir acheté la #bigbox de #ElderScrolls #Battlespire dans une boutique de #jeuxvidéo (qui n'existe plus) près de la galerie commerciale (qui n'existait pas encore) Les Champs à #SaintBrieuc, mais le ticket de caisse que j'ai retrouvé dans la boîte me fait douter. Je n'ai découvert les #ElderScrolls qu'avec #Daggerfall mais j'ai acheté #Arena peu après, en brocante, une bouchée de pain. Il se vend 300 ou 400 euros maintenant, c'est absurde... Il s'agit là de l'édition FR éditée par #Ubisoft, avec son illustration alternative réalisée par Sandrine Gestin. J'ai voulu mettre la main sur l'illu en HD mais Ubisoft m'a ghosté et l'artiste a vendu l'original il y a des années. Je me demande dans quel salon elle est accrochée !

Thinking of starting a new play thru of #Skyrim. Picked up the anniversary edition upgrade and some of this content sounds really cool. I've got a play thru going, but I may start a fresh one just so I can get all of the new content sort of organically from the beginning. Just gotta remember to set a custom profile for Skyrim and cap the refresh rate at 60fps so the engine doesn't break, 😁
There is this rumor going around that there is going to be a remake of The #ElderScrolls 4: Oblivion.
But the rumor also claims that this remake is going to be done with #Unreal 5, which is the part where I call "bullshit".
I mean, while outsourcing game development is not unprecedented for Bethesda (see Fallout: New Vegas), the Creation Engine and its modability is a huge part of the popularity of these games. So why would they use the Unreal Engine instead of a more modern version of the Creation Engine (such as the one they are using for #Starfield )?

@craftykraken Omigosh, I’m so behind on #ESO, but I honestly find doing the side stories often more interesting than the main one. The chapter stories are cool to do, but just getting lost and finding and doing zone and town quests is often where the game excels, I think. ☺️ #elderscrolls #mmorpg

In case you're interested in watching Let's Play styled playthroughs of games that are not really current, I have a Youtube channel where I play such games.
I'm currently in the process of removing my old name and branding, but I assure you, it's me. Right now I'm mostly focused on The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, as part of my "Play through the entire Elder Scrolls Anthology" commitment where I've already played through Arena, Daggerfall, and Battlespire.
Other games I've done include (but are not limited to) The Witcher, Dark Souls, Space Quest 1-4, Penumbra, Fatal Frame 1&2, Arma 2, Arma 3: Contact, and Distant Worlds Universe.
I've been going for about a decade, so the quality can definitely vary from series to series.
