Mazda, who somehow managed to produce a worse EV than the original Gen 1 leaf and sold approximately 6 of them in the USA have decided that EVs are not taking off.

But those things are not possible for everyone and everything at this time. I simply cannot bike to places that I need to go. And they are not served by transit, and probably won't be in my lifetime.

I love this car. It's quiet. It requires zero maintenance. We joke on the leaf boards that our biggest expense is washer fluid.

But it's hard to convince my friends that these are ready when they hear about how I can't get to some event or the problems I've had charging. And I've had them all. Including terrible siting of EV chargers. Even this one.

Seeing more and more automotive companies that manufacture EVs make claims that they are going to release a sub-$25K mass market EV "soon". I really hope they come through. 2025 appears to be the year when these lower cost EVs begin to enter the market. We'll see.

As we move beyond the internal combustion engine & engineer a transfer to #electricvehicles, the #pollution caused by the particles shed by #tyres is going to become more obvious as an #emissions & #health issue.

Already regulatory interventions are being considered on both sides of the Atlantic & tyre manufactures are looking (ahead of new laws) to mitigate particulate shedding from contact with the road.

This is likely to be a growing issue... one result: even more expensive tyres?
