(Part 1 of 2 on the topic of Gender Trauma)
The year is 2022 and Joscelyn is insisting to a friend, “There’s no way I have PTSD. I’ve never experienced any *real* or *serious* trauma, you know?” This is when the deadpan narrator voice comes over and ironically explains, “Joscelyn did, in fact, have PTSD.”
I wouldn’t be surprised if some of you have a similar experience, thinking you really can’t claim to have PTSD and downplay what you went through thinking it’s melodramatic to describe it as “trauma.” Especially for those of us that don’t have any specific, acute moments of trauma, like being physically hit or sexually assaulted. Nothing we went through really maps directly onto that kind of PTSD. So we all must just be inherently broken, terrible monsters that don’t deserve anything good, right?

Well, it took two days and going for a walk (and some shopping) with #LoveOfMyLife and my ex-GF (my wife's BFF) on Saturday (where I got the trousers) to get Celeste out of her corner.
Still, I think that experience will reverberate for a while, though it taught us all a lesson. What that is, is still to be analyzed but there is a lesson in there somewhere.
Since I decided not to work on Mondays anymore, I can have a beautiful outfit and just go doing grocery shopping, walking around, what-not, i.e., just enjoy a relaxed day - and hand over all the reigns to Celeste.

So, I mentioned in my selfie-post that I was out at #TobaccoBar in #Munich yesterday evening, having a few drinks (or a few more).
This friend, "J", is someone I really love. He is cis het and I also his wife. Anyway, I talked about the two of them before, so no more introduction.
Only that his wife is in the US right now and he'll join her on Saturday. So, that's the reason we went to the bar, cause they both'll be gone for a few weeks.
We were a "weird" couple at the bar. The bar men treated us amazingly nicely, the drinks were great and we talked about everything that came to mind. I think sometimes it helps him to be going out just with me 'cause I can relate to being a man (he is really very, very lovely - like the type of a man @ endali represents).
Anyway, we then started talking about sexuality (pan-/omni, etc) and he asked me if my sexuality has changed in any way after coming out and starting (also) HRT - like "has your sexuality shifted, expanded, changed, or did it just stay as it was before" (you know, again, a lovely kind of honest curiosity).
I told him that I don't think it changed/shifted at all, but that I actually finally fully understood my sexuality and that I am omnisexual.
Then the topic got "off hand", as we started talking about other people and especially some of my online friends I mentioned (and showed selfies of them), including lewd selfies of some of them mentioning ".. and you know, that one whom I really find very, very, attractive? They also have a beautiful dick. I just can't find the lewd selfie so quickly"
And when I showed a few selfies of men and enbies, he finally understood what I meant with:
1. I prefer women + enbies
2. There are men I'd be attracted to, but only if they are like "X", "Y", and/or "Z" (examples of male friends on Fedi)
3. If I ever had to date again, it'd be exclusively t4t

Yesterday, I went "for a drink" (or maybe more) with a lovely friend at #TobaccoBar in Munich. It was very beautiful, we had a great evening, fantastic drinks (well, I had a few glasses of great rum).

OTD a quarter of a century ago (it was a Friday) a young-ish woman and a young-ish enby (who in those days was assumed to be a man) who knew each other only a few months said to each other: "Yes, I do!"
Within the next 4-5 months they'd have divorced if the woman hadn't fought hard for her partner.
Then they lived through the ups and downs of their life together in Munich until they moved to Hamburg (2006-2009) just to move to NYC (2009-2013) and again nearly divorced, had, this time, not the enby fought hard for their partner.
Then, by 2014/15 they decided to settle down - in Munich.
During all those 25 years they struggled with each other, with life, the universe, everything; went through heaven and hell; questioned themselves, their life, their sexuality, their job, their ... everything.
But they kept together through all that hardship until, one fateful day in December 2021 the enby finally realized that they are, in fact, a trans non-binary person and came out their partner a week later - anxious, fearful, full of angst...
... but their partner surprised them, because you know what? She loved them - always! And then she said something beautiful: "I can't tell you how it will be and I can't tell you where this will take us - but it will take us there together! *That* I can tell you and promise you..."
Since then the two people have struggled through the ups and downs of their new relationship (with a lot more ups than downs now), made wonderful new friends, learned to enjoy the benefits of their beautiful relationship and vowed to continue staying together until their love for each other ends - or eternity - whichever comes first...
I am thankful to the universe who brought us together and I am immensely thankful to this amazing woman I will continue calling #LoveOfMyLife, my BFF, my island in a stormy sea, my partner, my equal, my missing half, ...

I am still astonished about how women/girls react to me in the meantime - absolutely astonished.
Yes, I know, I am different and I behave different, more natural, more authentic. And whoever knew me before (and my wife) and "report back" to her, tell her how much I am different: not so strongly opinionated anymore, a let less "rough edges", smiling a lot, and in general looking happy and giving out a positive vibe.
But the reactions of young girls (this time, at the party, the youngest one 8 or 9 years old) all the way through teenagers, twens, and older women ... is absolutely amazing. They really *like* me. I mean, I don't mean "like" as in "imdat is a nice person", but rather as in "imdat celeste is awesome, get them over, let's talk to them, dance with them, hug them, even shit-talk with them, get compliments, give compliments", etc.
When I was talking to this young woman (20ish) and she turned her back to answer someone else, I saw the tip of a beautiful tattoo looking out of her neck from her pullover. When she turned to me and I said: "Oh wow, that tattoo on your neck looks amazing" she immediately started glowing and explaining to me that it goes down all the way to her lower back (vulgo: ass) and even pulling her pullover down to show me. Later on she took off her pullover and I saw her wearing a half-open back (how to explain: the top was open on the back all the way down to where her belly is on the front) so that you could see it. And she showed it off quite proudly then (glancing at me once and winking knowingly).
Or the other girl who had her hair bound to a knot so that you couldn't see anything. When she took off the knot to re-do it and her hair flowed down I saw all her hair and mentioned what wonderful hair she has. She started blushing and tried to argue "no, no, ... I mean I was at a hairdresser last time about a year ago" ... she was trying to downplay and put on the knot again, but when I insisted that she has really beautiful hair, she decided to let it fall down and just ... let her amazing hair flowing freely the whole evening. Amazing...
Edit: she then commented: "you know, this is very nice of you to say so, because I don't hear that often ..."
There were so many women who came to me, introducing themselves, asking for my name and just wanting to chat or dance with me - it was absolutely enchanting.
On the way back to the hotel (around 2:30 - 3:00 in the morning) I mentioned to my wife how interesting it is that women really react so nice, so warm and so welcoming to me - and how most of them are so much "freer" when they interact with me (for lack of better wording). It is sad but also amazing to see how they instinctively realize that I am neither a (potential) competition (not a woman) nor a potential threat (not a man, either) and they just ... open up, be themselves, ... they take me in their arms, hug me, even ... one could even call it being somewhat intimate (within bounds; but another friend told me that this is how girl-friends interact with each other)...
Awesome..
And the men yesterday? They all were exceptional. I think nearly all of the men yesterday were cis het (I may be wrong on one or two), but their behavior was as you'd want and wish from men: kind, warm, open, curious ... not a single one of them treated me like a man or a woman. Even the really, really old father of the birthday child (I think he is 80+) was really so ... kind - in his own way.
I am thinking that one or two men there were/are not het and they even had some interest in me - but it was in a very, very nice and warm way; nothing annoying or so. Really, really nice. And yes the men in question are those that I'd not say no to probably (at least one of them reminded me of my lovely friend @endali )
And the young girls, like gen-y and gen-z? They seem to really have a liking to me and they quickly open up and especially the gen-z treat me like a girl-friend, yes, maybe an older one, but still just like very familiar girl-friend (again, for lack of a better word in my limited English).
Awesome. I think I'll be riding this wave (this energy) until the end of November at the least.

So, I am now at a party where everybody calls me Celeste in a very loving way, and I know only 4-6 of about 50 people here. Already made friends with a few complete strangers, one of whom "reported back" to my wife (i.e. he talked with my wife after meeting me for the first time) and indicated that "... Celeste's vibe is so positive, wow! ..."
And how do they all know me? Because one "Bella" has talked, nay gossiped like a yellow press about me - and told everybody that she loves me... well, I love her too. And that's why she got a mechanical keyboard with pink keycaps and 80g pressure switches (hand picked and replaced) from me. She is an amazing SW engineer and she was always dreaming of a mechanical keyboard; and it seems she also always wanted it pink keycaps but never got them. So she got one today*.
And her boyfriend also got a mechanical keyboard, but non-clickey. Bella's is also very loud clickey-mechanical.

Ok, real talk. The good stuff is: I have my appointment for my mastec fixed as of today and my health insurance is covering the costs. That means it finally is getting real! I waited for months, to get all the necesarry documents, went through half a year of therapy and jumped through a ridiculous amount of loopholes and all the time I was uncertain if I ever succeeded and get the medical treatment I clearly need.
I was getting dizzy after the phone call and understood: this is real now. All the preasure falling off me. It is real! It's insane how the uncertainty is putting you under pressure, because you can never be certain to get what you need and how dependend you are on a lot of strangers, who never see you and still decide your fate.

Today I was wearing (warm) tights with shorts when I went for a walk with Aylin, the helper dog.
When I looked down, I saw my legs and boots - for the first time like this.
And I finally fully understood/realized what #LoveOfMyLife means when she says: "I fell in love with your legs.”
I actually *do* have cute legs - and sexy as well.

The first part of healing from trauma is going back over the causes of trauma, so we can understand it and reprocess it in a safe environment. It's hard. Its incredibly painful. And we often learn things about ourselves that are hard to live with for a while.

I find life sometimes really ... fascinating. Sometimes life is full of wonders and miracles; we only have to look closer and accept that some things that we don't understand is because we don't understand them *yet*.
I have a video-call with a lovely friend today at 1600hrs CET. We did exchange some messages the last two years, but I haven't seen him since before coming out and I never talked about me being trans since then to him.
So, he hasn't seen me at all with all the changes that happened in the meantime.
But (going back to the opening of this post) I remember him coming to me and being so upset about a quote from "X2: United" when that movie came out: "Did you try ... not being a mutant?" (I remember him ranting about another topic in "X-Men: The Last Stand": The Cure "... as if being different is a sickness ...").
And yes, he was complaining to *me*. Did *he* know something about me that I didn't know then? I mean, it was in 2003 so you know (Tbh, I vaguely remember him even complaining about something in the first X-Men-movie, but I don't know the details anymore). Did he want to give me a hint? A hint to think about myself? My identity? Hmmm... 🤔
I think he really felt something then.
I know him since Nov 29th, 1995, when he "offered" me a job which I accepted and started working already the next day, joining a big meeting with Netscape, Inc. He is a wonderful guy with a very, very quirky humor with tons of cynicism (because of his own history) but that cynicism is just a cover for his huge heart - a shell to protect that big heart of his.
Yeah, I am really looking forward to the call and see how surprised or not surprised he'll react.

First and foremost I am a human being who loves every living being on this beautiful planet and is honored to spend time with some of them.
Professionally, I am a veteran software engineer who works as a freelancer from their home. I love modernizing ancient software by carefully, slowly rewriting while it is still operating - without disruptions.
Currently I have two wonderful, really amazing clients between whom I split my time roughly about 50:50.
For the first one, I am the "Primus Inter Pares" in a team rewriting a 20-yo C++ & JS-based system in modern nodeJS + Typescript. My main job there is not to write code (it seems), but review PRs, review code, give coding guidelines, merge PRs, and make sure everything my team needs is there: test servers, development server, on-premise Gitlab, on-premise Mattermost, a good/respectful/lovely atmosphere, a lot of fun, and what else we need to deliver an awesome product. The team is amazing, the atmosphere is full of respect and love; I will stay with this team as long as I can.
For the second client, I am rewriting a 15+ year old system (Java, Java/Swift/Vue1.x-FE; rpc-like crap-API) using go(BE), gRPC (API) and dart/flutter (FE).
Here I am the core developer for the new client and the new back-end. The back-end is, for now, a proxy/a wrapper around the existing one. I really want a better and more reliable enby equivalent of "girl" or "man." I know out here in Cali, people see "dude" as effectively neutral, and in some gay circles the gay "gurl" is effectively gender neutral, but that doesn't carry everywhere. I just love to be able to drop the distance and be like, "I hear you, gurl!"
Of course, it's a minor thing and I can always try to use other phrases that are a bit more bulky. I just keep finding more and more that I want us to develop more extensive terminology for us non-binary folks that doesn't just refer back to the binary (though playing with that can still be fun).

I came out as pan/poly last year. I was always an ally, but there are definitely some areas of gender that I did not investigate closely.
I'm fine with he/him. I'm fine being called a man. I'm masculine-presenting to the world. This is all fine.
At the same time:
* I really don't care about "gender roles."
* The notion of presenting as "too masculine" or "too feminine" is ridiculous to me. Just be you, dammit!
* The notion that you cannot do this thing because you are not of the right gender is also ridiculous.
* I wouldn't care much if a lover could take over in some areas of my life. This does not require them to be any type of gender.
* My marriage was to a woman 20 years older than I am. (26-year relationship.) Definitely not the standard gender roles playbook.
* I cry easily and without reservation. Not "manly" if you go by the usual playbook.
* I'm a caregiver Dom, but my primary concern is to blanket my lovers in comfort and affection. I'm definitely not domineering.

Currently I have two wonderful, really amazing clients between whom I split my time roughly about 50:50.
For the first one, I am the "Primus Inter Pares" in a team rewriting a 20-yo C++ & JS-based system in modern nodeJS + Typescript. My main job there is not to write code (it seems), but review PRs, review code, give coding guidelines, merge PRs, and make sure everything my team needs is there: test servers, development server, on-premise Gitlab, on-premise Mattermost, a good/respectful/lovely atmosphere, a lot of fun, and what else we need to deliver an awesome product. The team is amazing, the atmosphere is full of respect and love; I will stay with this team as long as I can.
For the second client, I am rewriting a 15+ year old system (Java, Java/Swift/Vue1.x-FE; rpc-like crap-API) using go(BE), gRPC (API) and dart/flutter (FE).
Here I am the core developer for the new client and the new back-end. The back-end is, for now, a proxy/a wrapper around the existing one.
