A pumped hydro scheme in the mid-north coast of New South Wales has just been put on public exhibition after an extensive Environmental Impact Statement process. For anyone interested, the EIS can be downloaded here:

My personal opinion: in this part of the world, we need energy storage options, especially as solar is so reliable but only during daylight hours. But do we need pumped hydro in a remote location surrounded by National Parks, and at a site where the EIS reports endangered flora and fauna (including koala) and widespread indigenous use of the land. I would favour a large battery solution, ideally situated to store excess generation from our solar energy farms.

The amount of installed #solar panels in this area is to high for the network to transport all the energy generated. So during a day like this the #solarpanels will shut down at ~251 volt.. so even while using over 17kW of power (of which 6.1kW is generated by my own panel) the voltage is creeping up to the limit :( #green #energy #power #homeasistant

#Finland #energy: Olkiluoto's three reactors are all back online and for a short period, the extreme price volatility went down. Due to high winds, the price of electricity in fact went near zero again. But the reactors at Loviisa are in annual maintenance and the wind died down again - so, back to high pricing it is.
