Heh. Reading about #intuit's #Mint #financial tracking software closing up. I'm not sure if its #enshitification if the provider is shuttering it because it was a money loser, but it still stings the same.
Anyways - there are lots of $money tracking apps and softwares, including lots of good ones for linux. But, I'm still rocking the 2010 Sunset edition of #MicrosoftMoney. Yeah it doesn't have a mobile app, the online integrations are broken, but it still *works*. Reliably.

Adding this from the NYAG to help clear the weeds of #McConney’s #Day4 testimony in the #Trump #Fraud #trial:
Trump claimed on mult #financial statements that the #TrumpTower #triplex, assessed at $127M, was valued at $327M, "based on the apt having 30k sq ft of space multiplied by a certain price per sq ft. However, the actual size of Mr. Trump's triplex apt was 10,996 sq ft, &
#McConney, who's also a #defendant in the #Trump #fraud case, was then shown letters he sent to a lender to disclose the statements of #financial condition to Royal Bank America. That letter & others like it are part of how the AG will attempt to establish McConney’s #liability for #false financial statements, in addition to his involvement in preparing the statements themselves.
The trial adjourned for lunch.
McConney is scheduled to resume testifying at 2:15 PM ET.
#McConney testified that he & then-CFO #AllenWeisselberg reviewed the final version of the #financial compilations & that once #Weisselberg signed off, he would notify their #accounting company, #Mazars.
But he acknowledged that, through his own handwritten notation, he amended Mazars’ issuance letters to indicate #TRUMP HIMSELF was entitled to a FINAL REVIEW of the compilation of statements of financial condition.
#McConney testified that he retired earlier this yr & was given a severance of $500k, $125k of which he’s still owed but isn’t contingent on anything other than his “being alive.”
He blamed #Bender's #accounting firm for the #financial statements the AG says were grossly inflated.
“We, being the #TrumpOrganization, did not prepare the statements. #Mazars, as our #accountant, did,” he said.
McConney was the 1st witness for the Manhattan DA in the #criminal #trial against the #TrumpOrg last yr.
#Engoron then asked how long this would take. #Suarez said he will finish his cross-examination of Bender in ~1½ hrs.
During his questioning of #Bender, #Trump's lawyer asked Bender if he ever consulted w/#DonaldTrumpJr. or #IvankaTrump about the #financial statements that the AG contends were grossly inflated.
"Not that I recall," he said of both.

He also directed the #Trump team to turn over a full list of those #companies, & to inform the monitor already overseeing the #TrumpOrganization's #financial #transactions about any 3rd parties who have ownership interests.
The order also directs Trump's team to inform the monitor in advance of any applications for new #business certificates & any transfer of assets.
Last week, #Engoron denied Trump's motion to have the claims against him thrown out on statute of limitations, & Engoron issued partial #SummaryJudgment on some of the AG's allegations, including that #Trump & the #TrumpOrganization had made "persistent" false claims overstating the #value of their #assets in their #financial statements.
#Bender’s failure to complain about the #statements of #financial condition & #valuation methods doesn’t mean those valuations & statements they were presented were reasonable. It just shows that Bender@& #Mazars were sloppy, if not financially beholden to the #TrumpOrg.
Yes Mazars had access to data that banks & lenders didn’t, but the employees & execs of #Trump Org weren’t entirely honest w/them.
Bender & Mazars may have been equal parts victims of & accomplices to Trump’s alleged fraud.
& #Bender admitted guidelines set forth by the American Institute of CPAs require accountants engaged in compilation of #financial statements to be familiar w/the bases for valuing the estimated current value of an #asset —& if there is a disagreement, to either insist on a modification of the disclosure or withdraw.
Bender admitted that other than a disagreement on Niketown’s value, which, after consulting w/ #TrumpOrg, it modified, he didn’t recall bringing anything else to their attn.
#Bender testified Tues that certain info had been #withheld from him & his #accounting firm, including the existence of certain #appraisal reports.
However, today, Wednesday, #Suarez got Bender to admit that he had access to bases for valuing the real #property #assets in the statements of #financial condition &
The questioning appeared designed to get #Bender to admit that he was aware of the ways in which the #TrumpOrg assessed the value of properties, but #Bender didn't fully relent.
He said he understood how the asset values were reached for a “significant portion” of props, bc the notes to those statements of #financial condition addressed some of the #valuation methods, but didn’t recall which he did or didn’t see or understand.
He noted that he was not hired to do #appraisals for #Trump.
#Bender, who said he made $1 million to $2 million a year, said in response to questioning that he was the one responsible for making sure everything was SUBMITTED correctly. But he countered that the company should have provided him w/proper #financial data, incl’g appraisals.
Earlier today, under questioning by the AG's office, Bender said that he'd compiled the financial statements based solely on info he received from #Trump & his company.

The AG's office is trying to show a #pattern of behavior through documents bolstering #Bender's claim, indicating he & the accounting company he worked for relied on docs that Trump & his company provided them.
Longtime #TrumpOrganization #accountant #DonaldBender was the first #witness in the #NewYork AG’s $250 million #fraud #trial. He was responsible for preparing the allegedly #fraudulent statements of #financial condition that were used to present what the #lawsuit says are #inflated accounts of #Trump’s #NetWorth to obtain favorable #loan & #insurance policy rates.

Justice #Engoron asked whether it was his position that there were no #misstatements in the financial statements. Robert insisted that there were no “#material” misstatements.
“President Trump did not make any false statements,” Kise read from a slide. He said that the AG’s estimates are speculative, which matters as they would determine the size of any #penalty #Trump would pay.

I've also written about this recently! If we don't create a culture of intentional #financial structures, #mastodon is doomed to fall to #corporate interests (and this was even before the Meta closed-door meetings).
We can't be shy to discuss money if this is something important to us. Whether it is #donation based (Wikipedia does it), or institutions (email succeeded in part through adoption and #hosting services of universities), or establishing a foundation to offer grants in support of the platform, we should be thinking and planning now.
The alternative is ad support (or tracking!), subscription or tiered service, exclusion of minority voices, and/or the eventual death of the platform.
