A Rapid KL bus caught fire along Jalan Tandang in Petaling Jaya on Sunday (1 Oct) morning.
Eight people were onboard the bus when one of the passengers saw flames.
The driver immediately pulled over to the side of the road before the fire engulfed the entire bus. No one was injured in the incident.
The bus is plying T640 route (LRT Taman Jaya - Taman Sri Sentosa) when it caught fire near the Jalan Penchala bus stop.

"Chemical engineers in California have designed a fuel that ignites only with the application of electric current.
The “safe” liquid fuel doesn’t react to flames and would not start accidental fires during either storage or transport.
“The fuel we’re normally using is not very safe. It evaporates and can ignite—and it’s difficult to stop that,” said Yujie Wang, a chemical engineering doctoral student at the University of California Riverside who co-authored a paper on the new fuel.
“It is much easier to control the flammability of our fuel and stop it from burning when we remove voltage.”
When fuel combusts, it is not the liquid itself that burns. Instead, it is the volatile fuel molecules hovering above the liquid that ignite on contact with oxygen and flame. Removing an oxygen source will extinguish the flame, but this is difficult to do outside of an engine."

On September 24th in Panchari, Khagrachari, members of the 3rd Battalion Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) shot and wounded two indigenous individuals during a routine check at the Logang checkpost. The BGB stopped a motorcycle carrying two passengers and discovered 1.2 million Bangladeshi taka ($10,000) in cash. The passengers, Rintu Chakma and Dhanranjan Chakma, claimed the money was for local trade purposes. However, the BGB was suspicious and attempted to confiscate the money and detain the individuals. This led to a dispute with local residents, who argued that the money was intended for local traders to buy goods. After a heated discussion, BGB personnel fired shots, injuring at least two people. The incident has been described differently in local Bangladeshi media, characterizing it as a "mob attempting to rescue criminals from BGB custody."

Earlier I showed a PurpleAir site near the #LookoutFire with an AQI of 1952 and speculated that it was due to a smoke column collapse.
After looking at the data and satellite imagery this appears to have been wrong. It looks like a #smoke haboob caused by a diurnal westerly surge accumulating briefly incredibly dense smoke like a dust cloud from an Arizona t-storm gust front as it moved what had stagnated near the fire toward the east.
There is a PurpleAir sensor in the Cascades east of #Eugene recording an AQI of 1952. Might as well stick a block of cheese out there to have it freshly smoked.
Edit - 45 minutes later the value is closer to 1000. This is right next to one of the big fires so I wonder if the smoke column collapsed causing a quick spike.

Well, Biden and people of his generation have been in power for some 40-50 years, all the while ignoring warnings because it was politically too hard to rein in our emissions. Biden himself has been a senator since the 1970's. He has been a much better place to leverage his power and prevent some of these disasters than I have, since before I was born.
